Guiseppe Piacente was married when he came from Italy. Her name was Marianna Montesona. They changed their name to Patchen, so all the descendants now carry that name. Sorry, no Francis.

Do you know where your grandfather was from, or his birth date. My great-grandfrather parents names were Vito Piacente and Rose Smapalo, I believe. He was born in S. Vito Sulione, CZ, Italy. (He was born in 1869)

My grandfather Augostino arrived in this country and worked in the coal mines in Pa. It was before the turn of the century. He later moved to Rhode Island. He married Theresa Pallazo and had 8 children. There are many Piacente decendents in Rhode Island. I was told that we had cousins in upstate New York as well. Any information would be appreciated.

Hi Sandra, My grandfather was Rocco Piacenti. I know he was born in Italy and resided in Chicago for some time. He came to Utica, NY where he met my grandmother, Mary Louise Romanelli. They resided in Fulton, NY and had 4 children. Their oldest son lived in Utica, NY, he passed away this past year. My father, Rooco, lived in Syracuse NY until 10 years ago when he moved to FL. There are also 2 daughters, Yolanda (Violet), who resides in CA and Rose who resides in Va. All the family spelled their last name with an "i" at the end except my father, who was instructed by the USMC to spell it with an "e", since the "i" was never dotted on his birth certificate. There are cousins here, in Syracuse and also in Utica, CA and VA. Hope this has been some help to you. I'd love to keep in touch and hear about your progress. Maybe we're related. :-)

Piacente's Upstate New York
Thanks for the information. I know that my father had cousins around Rome New York and Ithica. I met them once when I was a small child. I know part of the family moved to California to work at the aeronautics factories. My Aunt Ruth Piacente was very friendly with them. I am forwarding your message to her. She may be able to give us more information. I know that we lost touch with them many years ago. It is possible that you are indeed a relative. The family of Augostino had eight children, Three of which are still alive all in their eighties. Many Many cousins and we all keep in touch.

Linda Piacente Reyla's Message
I received your message and sent the html to my cousin Joy Piacente Grenga and his is what she replied:-JoyGrnga: I am not sure if they are related, but our father's cousin's settled in Herkimer, NY. I am still friendly with Andrea who's mom was there cousin. I spent a few summers there when I was a kid. Daniel Piacente, Carrie Piacente Shuhart, and one other brother who moved to CA. Danny past away many years ago. 25.
Do any of them sound familiar? Sandra

Unfortunately, none of the names sound familiar. I was very surprised to see that some settled in Herkimer, NY, which is not far from Utica where my Uncle lived most of his life. He never mentioned any Piacente's or didn't seem to know of any in the area. I called my father this evening to see if any of the names sounded familar to him and they didn't. He did tell me his father was from Caserta, Italy, and he had a couple of brothers that remained there. One was a stone mason, another a professor and my grandfather, Rocco, was a carpenter by trade. I have no information on who his parents were, when he was born, but I do know he died in Canastota, NY Around 1956. I'm hoping to find more information somewhere on the Web. Thanks for responding and giving me some info. It may help. And I hope I've been some help to you.
