Darlann,
As you can see from material that I have placed on the Message Board I am connected to the Australian Phypers who so far as I have been able to trace come out of London. I suspect with time I might be able to trace the 1802 birth of a James Raycraft Phypers and that will lead to more fruitful research.
In the meantime, I collect together all material I can on "Phypers" in the hope it will take me where I want to go. Earlier this year I sent Dan Phypers, to whom you refer, a draft family tree for the Phypers of Ely. It still needs to be checked and verified but seems reasonably correct.If you make contact with Dan ask him to give you a copy. If you have no luck, perhaps you could send me your address and I'll happily send you a copy.
So far as I can deduce the Ely line to which you refer runs as follows:
WILLIAM PHYPERS (b.c.1729, married Mary,bur. 24/1/1803, St Mary's, Ely, aged 74 years). Mary was appears to have been born about 1741 and appears to have been buried 1/7/1804, at St Mary's, Ely, aged 63 years. Son appears to be
WILLIAM PHYPERS (b. c. 1764, married Ann, bur.1811 at Holy Trinity, Ely, aged 47 years. Ann appears to have been born about 1766 and was buried on 21/5/1834, aged 68 years.Are these the William Phypers and Ann Earle who appear not to have signed the register at All Saints, Cambridge but to have done so at St Clements, Cambridge, in 1786. REMEMBER this is largely supposition to this point.
But a William and Ann Phypers had the following children:
1. Charles bapt. 10/2/1789 @ St Mary's, Ely;
2. John bapt. 12/6/1791 @ St Mary's, Ely;
3. Pryor bapt. 22/6/1794 @ St Mary's , Ely. Bur. 1809 Holy Trinity, Ely, aged 15 years.
4. WILLIAM bapt. 23/3/1796 @ St Mary's, Ely. Married Sarah Everett @ St Mary's , Ely on 6/7/1819. Bur. 23/11/1846 @ St Mary's, Ely "of the Union House" aged 53 years.Sarah died 15/2/1845, aged 43 years;
5. Mary Ann bapt. 16/5/1798 @ St Mary's, Ely. Bur. 1803 St Mary's, Ely
6. James bur. 16/3/1800 @ St Mary's, Ely.
7.Elizabeth bapt. 26/12/1802 @ St Mary's, Ely.
8. Elizabeth bapt. 16/45/1804.@ St Mary's, Ely;and

According to my notes William Phypers and Sarah (nee Everett) had the following off spring:

( bapt. 11/9/1870 @ St Mary's, Ely.Married Florence Blunt, daughter of John Blunt, deceased Railway Worker, at the Parish Church, Steyning on 11/3/1899 and appears to have had daughters including Doris Eva and Florence Edith.
I was interested that you had precise dates for some occurrences whereas I only have years.
Also, you will see in a reply that I sent to a Susan Phypers, I think that is who it was,that I make reference to the Will of a John Powsey Phypers, Silversmith, of Islington, who left a pecuniary legacy to his son William, I think, of Lisgar Street, Ottowa, Canada. I suspect that that William has descendants but alas the email brought no response. To date I have not been able to connect John Powsey Phypers to the Ely folk.
If there's anything in the foregoing with which you disagree or which you feel like adding to please do so.It may be of assistance to someone else.
All the best,
Michael Smith
