Hi Jessica,
I have found out where John M. Phy died and when. He died in Highland, CA on Nov. 27, 1915 at the age of 75. He was survived by his second wife (first one died), Lydia Scott Jackson. Let me know if you want a copy of the obituary. I have to send for the death certificate. Have you been able to get in touch with Conrad's family?

I am related to both the Phy and Stone families. My maternal grandparents were Theora May Stone and Conrad Vernon Phy. I would love to reach anyone from either family.

Hello,
I have information on the Phy family and would be happy to share it with you. I did get stuck trying to trace the family back to North Carolina. I hope to have time to work on it more soon. Do you have a copy of John M. Phy's death certificate or his sister Mary Nichols'? I am hoping that they might have named their mother's maiden name. I know her name was Polly but that is all.

I formed a DNA project for the surname Phy. Please tell me your name and if you are male. It would be great if you could join our project. I have not found anyone to match my Uncle Jack Phy.

Sincerely,
Daniela

Daniela,
Unfortunately, I don't think I can be of much help to you. Although my grandmother,Theora, raised me, I never knew my grandfather, Conrad. That part of who I am is pretty much a mystery to me, which is why I was so excited to stumble across this thread on this site. Imagine my suprise!! If I understand your project you need DNA from direct male descendants. My grandfather's only son was my "Uncle Bud", John Vernon Phy. He died about 4 years ago but left only one daughter.
Any info on the family you could share with me would be greatly appreciated. I would like to have something to give to my children and my niece and nephew.
Thanks,
Connie Eggers

Hi. I am part of the Philadelphia branch of the family. My mom is buried at Los Angeles National Cemetery, and there are Phy's buried there. She is listed under both Phy and her married name, Poirier. Are those Phy's part of your family?
