Annie and all Philyaw researchers:
George Philyaw was born C1827 in AL (probably Conecuh Co., AL).
He married Clarissa Sullivan, daughter of Curtis & Nancy Sullivan, both of Duplin Co., NC.
Curtis and other Sullivans of his line were emigrates to Dale Co., AL before 1850. By 1860 Curtis has moved to Conecuh Co. and this is where Clarissa met and married George.
They moved to State Line, Washington Co., AL by 1862. I have not located them in 1870.
In the 1880 MS census with George & Clarissa is a Nephew named Joe Roberts age 10 who was the son of Clarissa's sister Epsy Sullivan. We do not know the given name of the Roberts she married but they died about 1871, some say in a wagon accident. One child, Joe went to Clarissa and the other Jason Sullivan went to TX with his uncle Leonard Sullivan.
Leonard Philyaw was probably named after Clarissa's brother Leonard.
Curtis was son of Hampton Sullivan, then another Hampton, then John & Agga Sullivan of Duplin, NC.
I am seeking Philyaw information as I have very little on them.
Thanks
