Aug. 10, 1923 - October 16, 2014 Dr. Betty Sconyers Phillips passed away Oct. 16, 2014 at her home at Westminister Village(Baldwin County, AL). She was 91 years old. She was predeceased by her husband of 54 years, Dr. Charles B. Phillips Jr., and her parents William and Ethel Sconyers and her 6 brothers and sisters. Betty grew up in Headland, AL(Henry County) and graduated from Auburn University with a degree in Mathematics and a doctorate in Veterinary Medicine. She practiced veterinary medicine with her husband Charlie for 29 years in Mobile. Betty was the first female practicing Veterinarian in the state of Alabama. Betty had a great love for gardening, playing golf, and Auburn University, where she and Charlie met. She was a long time member of Central Presbyterian Church and she belonged to various clubs and organizations in Mobile. She is survived by her son Charles B. Phillips III and his wife Cheryl and son Dr. William Lee Phillips Sr. and his wife Gayle. Her grandchildren are Dr. Jordan Phillips Ruth of Greenwich CT., Claire Phillips Jones of Spanish Fort AL, and Will Phillips Jr., Riley Phillips, and Graham Phillips, all of Mobile. Graveside services will be Saturday October 18th at 10am, at Mobile Memorial Gardens.
