Surnames: Phibbs
I understand that ALL Phibbs' in America are related...in a direct sense...or a Tribal sense.....and that there are approximately 600 families total.....I have a Family Tree going back to Sidco County, Ireland with all names, etc....I would like to locate a Phibbs that I met while in the U. S. Navy...it was approx. June, 1966 at the U. S. Naval Training Center, Bainbridge, MD....this boy was from New York...I failed to get his name and address...only knew his last name was Phibbs and don't remember his first name...anyway, this is the only Phibbs that I have ever met in my travels, etc. that was outside my Family with the name PHIBBS....is there anyone out there that might have a clue..he would have been in the Navy in 1966 and was from New York...this might be a silly request, but you see, there are not that many of us considering the size of the USA...Would appreciate any info...thanks...Marvin H. Phibbs of Clarksville, TN...and formerly of Glade Spring, Va. (Washington County)

There are a number of Phibbs families here in New Zealand. We, too, are all related having descended from John Phibbs who came to New Zealand from Blessington, county Wicklow, Ireland in the late 1880s. I've visited Blessington and met Phibbs relatives there. There were striking physical resemblances. It's great to hear from other members of the Phibbs clan. I have a little bit of the family history from Blessington which I'll share if people are interested.
