George Phebus of KY, IN, and IA

Surnames: Phebus Cory Martin
I am trying to establish the relationship between George Phebus, born abt. 1797 in KY and Nancy Phebus, born Sept. 5, 1759 in Somerset Co., MD. Nancy was the daughter of John and Jemima Phebus, and Nancy married Robert Martin in Somerset Co., MD in 1780. George was living in Kosciusko Co., IN in 1840. In 1849, he migrated to Iowa with his daughter, Mariah, and her husband, Isaac Walker Cory. In 1850, they were all living in the same household in Polk Co., IA. In the same wagon train to Iowa was Isaac Walker Cory's mother, Dorothy (Dolly) Martin, who married Jeremiah William Cory, Sr., and who was the daughter of Robert Martin and Nancy Phebus. I am guessing Nancy was George's aunt. Any information appreciated.

Surnames: PHEBUS/PHOEBUS
I have a lot of Phebus/Phoebus data, much of which was transcribed from a book put together by one of my ex-husband's relatives. Unfortunately, I was new to all of this and didn't cite the original sources of the entries. And I no longer have the book in my possession. I have a George born Abt 1790 (see below) and marrying Rachel Henderson in Ohio in 1817, though I don't have daughter for them. (But this would make Nancy Phebus his aunt as you suspected, so that fits.) If you could pass along any other info you have on George and his descendants, I would appreciate it!

John Phebus/Jemima are in my direct line. I am descended from their son John (Oct 1774-1853).
Do you have anything proving George Phebus'(1705/6/8-1791)record in the Revolutionary War ?

Do you have anything on Andrew,s/o of John Phebus and Jemima ?

Thanks

Hi. No, I don't have any documentation of George's Rev War service. I also, don't have an "Andrew" as son of John and Jemima. All of the John/Jemima children I have were born in Maryland, so perhaps Andrew was born after they left Maryland? I do have an Andrew as the son of John Phebus and Barbara Stewart though.

Note: I am the beneficiary of the research done by a relative of my husband's, so did not accumulate and document these facts myself. However, as a starting point for your research they could be beneficial, and I would be happy to share them if you're interested in what data I have.

I did just run an Ancestry.com search on George's Rev War service and came across a book called Maryland Revolutionary Records (by Harry Wright Newman, published by Genealogical Publishing Co, Inc., ISBN 0-8063-0257-7). In the section Brief Resume of Maryland Revolutionary Pensioners, there is a listing for George Phebus born 1762 (son of John/Jemima?) on page 42.

Nothing on the elder George though.
