Mary Ann Pheasant was the dau. of Richard Pheasant Mary Ann Boswell of London. She married Frederick Augustus Oldis, also of London and mid-1800s, they sailed for America, losing an infant son on the trip. Letters were written to the States from on board there was a family bible. This collection was stolen from her grand daughter's home in Iowa. I am researching Richard Pheasant Mary Ann Boswell's background,

I am from Iowa. I wish I could find your property for you. I have two Pheasants in my family. One is Joe Pheasant who was a stepgrandfather from Moraviantown, Ont., Canada. The other is his son named Joseph Alexander Pheasant (my uncle) who was born in Ontario, Canada and died 1998 in Florida. Can give you more infor if you think they are connected to your Pheasant family. This name is very hard to research. Connie

Mary Ann Pheasant was b. 14 Oct., 1827 in London her mg. there was on 17 June, 1849. She d. 27 Sep., 1908 in Castana, Monona, Iowa. Fa.: Richard Pheasant Hus.: Frederick Augustus Oldis. She had two sons by that name one named John Richard plus two dau., Mary Ann Margaret. Pheasant was probably a West Country name originally. I too want to learn more about the Pheasants generally. A tailor by that name came to the States in the 1700s.

Hi, just read your message. Haven't done any family history research for some time but my maiden name was Pheasant. We are descended from a Thomas Pheasant from Leighton Buzzard, Bedfordshire in the late 1700's. There are lots of Pheasants in the microfiches I've looked at, so may be no connection with you. Anyway feel free to contact me for a chat

I agree, Connie, a difficult name to get a line on but I should have added that my Pheasant, Mary Ann, wrote letters from the ship on which she sailed to America kept a family bible. These heirlooms were stolen in Monona Co., IA when her grand dau. died the house was unprotected. Otherwise, I would have much more information on my Pheasants.

Pheasants from Bedfordshire
My connection with Bedfordshire is Thomas Pheasant, born 1797 at Billericay, Bedfordshire, who was a straw plait merchant. He married Sara Poole from Linslade nr Leighton Buzzard, Bed., date unknown. We are descended from one of their two sons, George Pheasant, born 1854 in Billington, Bed.(They had another son, Albert who had seven sons, Albert, Walter, George, Edwin or Ernest, Sydney, Percy, and Arthur.) George married Sara Elizabeth Groom in 1878 in London and had at least four children, of which we are descended from George William Peter Kitely Pheasant, who was my great grandfather. He migrated from England to South Africa, married there, thence to New Zealand and finally to Australia where he settled. Still uncertain whether there would be any connection with your family, however from the little research I have done there seemed to be hundreds of Pheasants in Bedfordshire at this time!

My family migrated to Australia from England in 1960. My father is Frederick George Pheasant, mother Maureen Frances Pheasant, brother Ian Keith Pheasant.
There is a Mark Pheasant who lives in Albany and is coincidently a partner to my brother's wife sister. Mark's relationship to our line of Pheasants is unclear. His father is Barry Pheasant who lives in Queensland Australia.
I am putting together a history of our lineand will post it as soon as possible.
