It will be very difficult to look for your
root, especially the the Pham last name. Pham
is as common as Smith in the US. There must
be millions with the same last name as the
one you have.

Hi Toan, as far as i can tell, i think the
name Pham traced back all the way to the
old ancient civil war. As the old book said,
there was an old country with the name "Viet."
One the advisor to the emperor had the name Pham Lai.

This might sound weird, but i live in California and I was always wondering about the name, so i checked in the phone book and looked under Pham, barely any Phams. You think there are more Phams in California or somewhere else?

Dear Hue Pham

Is the surname with a cao3 zi4 head and 3
drops of water along the left side? I cannot
produce information on its Vietnames roots
but I can translate from bai3 jia1 xing4
(info on ancient roots of most surnames and
famous people with those surnames). E-mail
me if interested.

um, i went to Viet Nam a little while ago, and my dad's distant cousin showed him a book with all of the different roots and family trees relating to the last name PHAM. I heard they were updating it, but i really don't know anything else about it.
