Margaret T. Phalen or other Phalens of Kingston, Ulster Co, NY
Is anyone researching the Phalens/Whalens of Kingston, NY (Ulster County)? I am particularly interested in Margaret T. Phalen (b. ~ Jun 1860) who married William Walsh. She is in the 1900 census with her married name of Margaret T. Walsh. Her husband had already died. Her children are listed but the census page is damaged so some of their names are missing. The children are: Mary V. Walsh b. Mar 1884 m. Patrick S. Dunn in 1903 in NYC Richard J. Walsh b. Sep 1885 daughter b. 1887 unknown sex b. 1888 Jennie b. Aug 1890 John b. Apr 1892 Annastasia b. 1895
If you know anything about any Phalens (or Walshes) of Ulster County, please reply. Thank you.

Re: Margaret T. Phalen or other Phalens of Kingston, Ulster Co, NY
My great great grandfather John Phalen came from Ireland about 1654. He lived in Kingston but I'm not sure of the years. (The family eventyaly moved to Brooklyn.) He had a son, Edward, who was about four years old when they arrived, Edward owned a fleet of barges on the Erie Camal. Edward had two sons, John and Michael. John, my grandfather, was a tugboat captain in NY harbor. He married Elizibeth Cavanaugh who also came from Kingston. Michael was a pilot on the Panama Canal. I have not neen able to find any additional information on the Phalen's Kingston history or their Irish heritage except that I believe they were from Wexford or Waterford. county. I'd appreciate any information on the Kingsron Phalen's. Thanks a lot JAck Phalen

Re: Margaret T. Phalen or other Phalens of Kingston, Ulster Co, NY
My ancestors, Nicholas and wife Margaret (Welsh) Phalen lived in Ulster Co, NY 1851-1858. In 1856, they gave birth to William H. Phalen. When the child was 2 years old, they all moved to Mendota, IL where decendants still live today. Can we be related or help each other? I'm looking for parents of Nicholas and Margaret, both from County Kilkenny, Ireland.
