Surnames: PHALEN, SIMKIN
I am searching for any info on my fathers parents. His name is Jack Phalen and he was born 12-25-42, in Rochester New York. He married my mother, Nina Simkin, in Colorado in 1971. I believe that my parents were married in Boulder Colorado. He died on 2-2-2001, in Iowa. If anyone can help me with this, I would be very grateful. Thanks,
Tara

Tara,

I'm sorry, I don't know anything about your father, but I was a childhood & young-adult friend of your mother's. My parents were friends of Nina's parents. Nina, as you might know, grew up in New Jersey; I grew up on Long Island. I came across your query in searching for Nina. Last I knew, she had moved to Denver. Now, I even have a 16-year-old daughter named Nina! Do you know where your mother is, now?

Wow! - 2 granddaughters! - That makes me feel older than I am - and Nina is younger than me. I have just 2 kids; a girl, 17 (Nina is also HER name - although I didn't outright name her after your mother, knowing her DID contribute a positive association with the name, which influenced naming my daughter), & a boy, Anthony, 11. Yes, I knew your mother well, as she would tell you - just ask. If you could put us directly in touch with each other, I'd love it. I assume that she would be amenable - we always got along great with each other. But, again, ask her. I'm still married to my first wife, who's 8 years younger than me. We both started marraige relatively late in life, which is why our kids are still so young, which is more than fine with me. So, let me know what your mother said. - Pete

Hi Tara, I knew both your parents, although I knew Nina better. I worked at the Little Kitchen in Boulder when they got together. Nina was friendly with a girl named Holly at the time. Sorry to hear about your father's passing. Nina and I had some mutual contact from the New York area - I think her mother was an artist doing sculpture. I think this was in 1970 - before she married Jack Phalen. Regards to her.

Hi Tara,

This is from Jeff Evans. I was a good friend of Jackson's since 1988 and was with him when he passed. I'm pretty sure I met you in Boulder in 1999 when Jack had the VW Bus.

I was just missing your Dad and searched his name and ended up here.

I hope you're doing well. If you'd like you can write me at PO Box 457, Kila, MT 59920.

Love, Jeff
