Dear List,
I gather that most of you are interested in much more recent history than the period when the Celtic family Ó Faoláin (which is the basis for all of the Anglicized versions listed above and more) controlled most of what is now County Waterford in Ireland. That period ran from approximately 600 to 1200 BC. Accepting a little more controversy, the family's story may be extended to a beginning in the 200s BC. I have pulled all the entries in the various Irish Annals which mention the family, it's territory, or the City of Waterford (controlled by Vikings for much of its history) and put them on a MS WORD table. If anyone would like to see/have that table you can contact me directly at
jakff@astound.net.
My particular surname was placed within the group by a yDNA (67-marker) analysis and I am interested in this sort of early history because my first migrant arrived in VA prior to 1671.
