I am looking for information on the Phair/Fair family from the Biddulph/McKillop, Huron/Middlesex County, Ontario, Canada. I am a descendant of Anna Fair/Phair born in 1822 in Ireland married James Dickson and had first child in Biddulph, Middlesex Cty, Ontario. Her father was Wm and she had a brother Wm.

There is a strong historical link from about
1809 or earlier between the Dobles and Phairs
in Ireland and Canada. Does your line have any Dobles in it in Canada. Larry. Hope to hear from you.

No, or should I say 'I have no clue'. All I know for sure is that Anna Phair/Fair married James Dickson/Dixon and had 12 children in Canada. The children were born from 1845 to 1865 in either Biddulph, Middlesex County, Ontario or McKillop, Huron County, Ontario. Anna's father is listed on her death certificate in Wisconsin as William Fair. There was also a William Phair/Fair next to Anna and James in both 1851 and 1861 census records. James and Anna immigrated to the US in 1865. I know of nothing else. There is a group of Phair/Fair in Huron County at the same time other than Anna and William but I haven't gotten any connections. I don,t think there is a link ,but give me
the ages of Anna and James in the census, and
do you have dates for Anna's father William.
I have some Phair's who moved to Illinois in 1886 and a James Phair born 1837 who I can't
seem to locate. Larry

Anna and James were born in 1822 and 1820, respectively. According to the 1871 census, afterwhich Anna and James had left, in Huron and Middlesex County there are what I suspect is three Phair brothers. William, in McKillop, born about 1826 in Ireland, Henry, in London City, born about 1831 in Ireland, and Edward, in Turnberry, born about 1825. The interesting thing is that there is a William Fair listed in the 1842 Assessment Rolls of Huron County, owning land in Goderich. In his home are 8 people, the parents and six children. Three boys and three girls. this would make sense as the father of Wm, Edward, Henry and Anna and two additional girls. ????? I am having such a hard time locating information from this time period I think I have a lot of new grey hair! Kathy

Surnames: Phaire/Phayer
Kathy,
I do not know if there is a connection here or not. I have a Joseph D. Phayer born abt. 1807 in Limerick, Ireland. His parents may have been Richard and Mary Phaire. Joseph may have had siblings of Mary, William, Charles, Jane, Richard, Catherine. I suspect that Joseph spent time in Canada, but I have no proof at this time. We think he was in Rennsselaer Co, Ny by 1840. He married Mary Murphy in 1849 in NY and then moved to Alton, Madison Co., Illinois where they settled and had 8 children. If any of this sounds like a connection, please respond. My email address is kathnel@msn.com. Thanks. Kathleen

I have a Phair/Phayer family with an Ireland>NY>Illinois connection. My Joseph D. Phayer was born in Limerick Ireland abt. 1803. He left at some point. He may have been in Rensselaer Co., NY by 1840. I wonder if he was in Canada before that. He married Mary Murphy in 1849 in Troy, Rensselaer Co., Ny and had their first child. Soon thereafter, they moved and settled in Alton, Madison Co., Illinois. They had a total of 8 children. Some of these children left and went to California and Colorado and the others remained closer by. Any connections? Please respond. My email is kathnel@msn.com. Thanks. Kathleen
