Does anyone know if there is a book written on/about the PHAIR family. If so please let me know. I would like to look at it if possible. My side of the Phair's came from Ireland. Thanks for your response. Anita

Hi Anita,
I don't know much about my father's background, but maybe this info will help someone. My father was Joseph Anthony Phair(born August 1939).He was the youngest. His oldest brother was John, another brother William, and two sisters:Mary and Martha. I'm not sure if my grandfather's name was John or Joseph. His wife, my paternal grandmother's maiden name was Leonard-don't know her first name. My father and his siblings were born in Lancashire, England. Family came from Ireland, don't know when, which generation. If this info helps anyone please contact me so I can fill in all the gaps I have. I know I must have cousins. Thanks, Sean. 6/23/00

I have a portion of a book by Henry Newton PHARR copyright 1955."PHARRS AND FARRS WITH OTHER DESCENDANTS FROM FIVE SCOTCH-IRISH PIONEERS IN AMERICA ALSO SOME OTHER FARRS AND MISCELLANEOUS DATA. It has not been filmed by the LDS yet--but you might be able to get a copy from your library's inter-library loan program. The book area in Salt Lake is 929.273--should help find it elsewhere. I have pp445 (ChapterXIV)(Geneologies and Index-Ephriam , Branch No.4)
through p.465.There is a tree with roots in 1400's Scotland (known as Fair and Phair)/ 1600 Ireland/Northern France, before 1400's/
1749 Earliest date in America. A note on the trunk of the tree says 4 brothers 1 sister from Ireland: Henry, Ephraim(mine),George, Margaret, Edward. Does this link with anyone on the List--does anyone know how to get a copy of the book to buy?

Hi Nancy! Do you know where your Phair's originated from? Mine are from England and the Buttevant, Co. Cork, Ireland area. I have little information about my Phair's being involved in Cromwell's Army. And I have a Col. Robert Phayre (Regicide) also. He was one of the three major signatures on the death warrant of King Chas. I. Does any of this sound familiar? I also have the surnames of Pickering and Crofts and Corban in my tree. Please let me know either way if any of this information sounds familiar. Thanks and happy hunting....Hope to hear from you soon. Anita

Well, stumbled across this message board. This is what my 86 year old father has told me for years. We are related to two brothers who fought with Cromwell. When the thrown returned to power the Phair brothers were in big trouble. Politics and marriage saved them from death and they were "banished" to Ireland. My dad mentions Castle Rey (sp) as my great grandfather's birthplace. His name was Casper (hows that for a new one) he apparently sailed around the horn with a brother or two. One brother got of the boat in San Fran my GG disembarked in Vancouver and hiked up the Fraiser River Valley and settled in Lillooet, British Columbia, Canada. Casper had two sons, Arthur my grandf. who had Harold Arthur Eyre Phair and a daughter Muriel. My dad says we descendants of the Vikings.

In Ireland, this place would be spelled "Castlerea". You can find the locations in the "Index to the Townlands and Towns, Parishes and Baronies of Ireland, 1851". The "Fair/Phair Etc" family name is mentioned in the books by O'Hart. These references should be available in the library.

Hi! I have a connection to one of the brothers that fought in Cromwell's army too. I am kin to the one brother that settled in the Southern part of Ireland. What information do you have about the Phair's in that area? Any inoformation would be greatly appreciated. I think there may be a connection to the puzzle if you are kin to the two brothers. Please find out as much info as you can and let me know. I take this researching very seriously and find it very interesting. I have some information about the King Chas. I death warrant. A Robert Phayre was one of the signers on it. And this is where I have the connection. Hope to hear from you soon. and thanks ahead of time for any response(s). Anita
