OUR FAMILY ARRIVED FROM SCOTLAND IN ABOUT 1906-1910. JOSEPH PHAIR AND MARGARET WALKER PHAIR BROUGHT 2 CHILDREN WITH THEM - ELIZABETH ELLEN AND JOSEPH JAMES. THEY LATER HAD 2 OTHER CHILDREN - ROBERT JAMES AND DONALD. THEY LIVED IN CINCINNATI. AFTER MARGARET WALKER'S DEATH JAMES MOVED TO THE WILDWOOD FLORIDA AREA AND MARRIED ANN OR ANNE (OR MAYBE ANNA) AND HAD A SECOND FAMILY. I AM LOOKING FOR MEMBERS OF THAT FAMILY - ANYONE AT ALL. ALSO I AM LOOKING FOR THE MEMBERS OF JOSEPH PHAIR'S BROTHER'S AND SISTERS FAMILIES WHO ALSO IMMIGRATED FROM SCOTLAND ABOUT 1904 - 1910. HIS BROTHERS AND SISTERS WERE: ROBERT, THOMAS, ELIZABETH, JOHN, HARRIET, SOPHIE. THE FATHER OF THESE PEOPLE WAS ROBERT PHAIR OF STRANRAER, SCOTLAND. I AM LOOKING FOR ANY INFO AT ALL ABOUT MY FAMILY. THANK-YOU.

Your Robert Phair is probably the oldest brother in the family who immigrated from Edenbourgh, Scotland. Our branch, the Joseph Phairs came in 1904, but Robert did come over earlier. I know very little about him, but I think I have a photo of him. He was older by quite a few years than Joseph. We do have some extensive work done on this family which I am trying to locate, but the lady who did all the work has died, and I can't find her daughter. The Phairs are a very quiet and private group, so if Robert seperated from your Grandmother I wouldn't be surprised that you know very little. But, I have a goal for 2000. I'm going to dig up as much as possible about the whole family - do you want me to keep you posted? I really think you may be a link.

Hi! I too am researching the PHAIR surname. I am trying to figure out what are the names of the two PHAIR brothers that went to Ireland from England. They were generals in Cromwell's Army. It has been mentioned that some PHAIR'S could have possibly went to Scotland too. Please if you could let me know the name of the women who you say did some extensive research and maybe I might have heard of her name too. Or if you have any information on the PHAIR name you would like to pass along. I have a William Pickering Phair and a John P. Phair, in Holy Orders (REV) in my line. And you? Hope to hear from you soon. Thanks ahead of time. Anita

Yes Cathy I would like to keep in touch. I would like to know if Robert Phair remarried.and maybe had another family. My grandmother was very quiet as you say the Phair's were. We were never told anything. I remember hearing maybe Robert Phair was in the service somewhere.

Due to Christmas break I have been able to compile a lot of info about this family. I don't know how much will help any of you, but maybe you'll something here will help.
Joseph James Phair was born in 1848 in St. Andrews (or near) Scotland. He was part of the MacGregor clan. He married Euphenia Day Lees Phair about 1869 at St. Andrews. She was born about 1850 and died 1906 in Glasgow. Joseph James had at least 1 sister, Janice who stood up with them when they were married. He died in 1911, in Glasgow. Joseph and Euphenia had 6 children
Child Born Emigrated Married Died
Robert 1879-Sct. 1900 Barbara Arns
1904 - Cinti
Mary 1875 (?) did not emigrate
Joseph(James)Perks
1881-Sct 1910 Margaret Walker
Anne(Fla) 1922
Sophipa 1887-Sct 1906 Emerson Wright
Harriet 1888-Sct 1906 John Norrish
Thomas 1894-Sct 1906 never married

I don't know when these 6 children died, but
all died in Cincinnati, except Mary in Scotland and Joseph(James)Perks Phair who died in Florida with his second family by Anne or Ann.

If any of these people belong to you, or any others who happen on this message, please contact me. I have names and addresses of some of the children/grandchildren/great-grandchildren of Joseph and Euphenia. My line is Joseph James to Joseph (James)Perks to Robert James to James Joseph. I am married to James Joseph, and have a son by that name, too. Also one named Stephen Robert. Not real creative, but keeping the names in the family.

Note to Dorothy: Robert, born in Scotland @1870 emigrated to US in 1900.He ended up in Cinti in 1904 where he married Barbara Arns. If he was married before in Philly I wouldn't know, but I never heard about that. I think I have his Granddaughter's address, and maybe she'll know. I'll also check ship manifests in 1900 and see where he went(if available). Keep in touch.

Hi Cathie, Could you send me the picture you have that you think is Robert Phair? I just got a picture from my grandmothers side of the family they said was Robert Phair. I could compare it to see if it's the same person.

Thanks I'll keep in touch.
