This is an FYI to all you Pfutz's. I found Sebastian and his family in the 1865 Norwegian census. The original spelling of the name is "Pfytsenrøiter". This should clear up a lot of confusion and hopefully help in going back further.

That is the Norwegian spelling of Pfutzenreuter. I have personally read this very same name in church books in Germany back to the early 1600s.

I stand behind my statement that the Pfutzenreuters are all from the Eichsfeld, Thuringen, Prussia.
