Hello, The company was founded in 1879. In Rochester the library is putting the city directories on line.

Here is the link to the 1899 directory for the Vettehttp://www.libraryweb.org/rochcitydir/images/1899/1899u-z.pd... family. I guess they are not scanning the company ads in the back, but in my 1908 city directory, I found that the company was founded in 1879. The ad shows the type of oak desk/draws used iin businesses back then.

I don't know anything else about the company. Good luck with your search. Robert Lauterbach in Rochester, NY.

I use to work with an Orin Vetter before I retired at the local utility company...any relation?

Hi
Thanks for your reply. Any info is great!
Would the utility be RGE? I have a brother Jerry and a nephew Alan that worked there.
Thanks again,
Marianne

I just might have something for you. I would have to check the family book. Lauterbach sounds familiar. If you are still watching this post email me at artpforr@msn.com and we will check it out. My family is also from Heringen and Bad Hersfeld

Hello Art,

in July 2008 I found a new Pforr line in Heringen:

My ggg ggg grandfather Conrad Moeller from Bengendorf married Jan. 21st, 1743 Elisabeth Pforr, daughter of Christoph Pforr in Heringen.

Is Christoph your ancestor too?

Best regards, Wolfgang G. Fischer (Germany)

Art - are you still around. Your MSN email does not work anymore. I am still trying to get a good set of data on the Pforr line, which I think is our line.

Surnames: Lauterbach
I am helping a friend search for his Lauterbach ancestors. I found that his ancestor Adam Lauterbach was born in Kleinenglis Dreis Fritzler Kurhessen, Germany. Is this the same area that you Lauterbach family is from. Adam was born in 1838 and his father was Henry Lauterbach married to a Catherine E. Adam immigrated in 1857 and was in Iowa first then settled in Lancaster County, Nebraska. There also was a Michael (Mike) Lauterbach who immigrated in 1883 and settled in Lancaster County Nebraska. Do think there is any connection?

Hello Anita,

the first Lauterbach (Lauderbach) we know in Heringen/Werra is Johannes, born about 1599, died 1669.He married his wife Margaretha before 1630.

You should check the Kleinenglis church records to see, if there is a connection to Adam, born Kleinenglis 1838.

Regards, Wolfgang
