I'm looking for Franz Pforr from Germany. He had a son named James Pforr born in or around Coles County, Illinois. James then had a daughter named Elanora Pforr, she married Alonzo Ellis Gordon.
I've got most of the family up til Franz, so if you could help please do. Thanks!

Pam:
My grandmother was Julia Pforr 1866 from Western Va. where many Lutherans and Pforr's settled. Her father was Christian Pforr apparently born in Germany. I am attempting to connect the Pforr's from Virginia to ancesters in Germany. Can you help?

You had posted a reply to an inquiry regarding Pforr ancesters a number of months back. I posted a reply to you, but never got an answer. My interest is in Pforr ancesters some of whom lived in Augusta County in the western part of VA. Several names you had recorded are similiar to ones I am researching. Could you jog your memory and check if you can provide some info? Would really appreciate any effort on your part.

Surnames: Pforr
My Grandmother, Marguerite Bean, whose maiden surname was Phorr, resided and died in Augusta County, VA (town of Waynesboro). I'm not certain of her religious affiliation.

I recently found her Grandfather and Father in the 1850 census records for Baltimore, MD (Baltimore County, Ward 6, page 173). Her Grandfather was named George Pforr (as was her Father) and, according to the census records, he was born in 1813 in Germany. His wife was Elizabeth Pforr (maiden name unknown) who was also born in Germany but in 1821.

Also according to the 1850 census, George and Elizabeth had four children. Bernard, born 1842, George, born 1844, Regina, born 1846 and John, born 1849. I found a Bernard Phorr in some American Civil War records and I'm doing some additional research to see if he is the same Bernard as my family member.

None of the family members appears on the 1860 census for Baltimore so I have to figure out where they moved during the 10 ensuing years. Augusta County VA was going to be my next stop on the research trail.

These folks may or may not be related to the persons you reference in your post. I would be interested in any information you might have about Augusta County, VA Phorr family members and will be happy to share any additional information I find if you are still interested.
