I have some Pfohl's immigration information from "The Alsace Emigration Book" compiled by Cornelia Schrader-Muggenthaler. The author states "The emigration date is not always the date of emigration but may also, in many cases, be the date of the application for passport. The birth year is not always correct. It is counted back from the age given on the passport".
Vol. 1
PFOHL, Franciska b 1836 in Surbourg, emigration 01/01/1867 to New York
PFOHL, Pierre b 1820 Sourbourg (BR) emigration 02/03/1857 to New York
PFOHL, Pierre b 1828 Sourbourg (BR) emigration 02/27/1857 to New York
Vol II
PFOHL, Antoine b 1834 in Surbourg, emigration: 01/01/1854 to America. Occ. Layborer
PFOHL, Jacques b 1816 in Surbourg emigration: 01/01/1836
I am looking to connect with PFOHLs who immigrated to Indiana. Xavier PFOHL m Helena Stein from Mommenheim in 1819 in Heilingenstein, Pfalz, Bayern. Their daughter was born about 1828 in ? and married Nicholas KAPPS in Evansville. Would like to connect with others from this family.
Hope the emigration info will help someone.

Surnames: Pfohl and Hisgen
Looking for Christine Pfohl, born April 25, 1831 in Germany
census lists birhtplace as "Baear". She lists her father's birthplace as France and Mother's as Baear. She had a brother, Andrew living in Princeton, IN and died 1887/9.

Christina married Louis Hisgen also from Germany, who immigrated sometime 1851-1854 and settled with brothers in Petersburg, IN. Their first child, Albert, was born in 1855.

Can anyone furnish more information on this line. There were many Pfohl's living in Princeton, Gibson County.
