Mary Catherine Pfohl died quite young. She was born in abt 1823 in ? and died 1855 in Evansville. There are Pfohl's buried in the Catholic cemetary in Evansville. When she died her husband, Nicolas Kapps remarried and it looks like there was not too much contact with the Pfohls after that. Some of them may have lived in Henderson Ky, across the Ohio from Evansville. I have seen the name listed as Voll also. It is an unusual name and I wonder if there is not some connection. Were your Pfohl's Catholic? I'm not sure what happened to my Pfohls. Please keep me in mind. Thanks again.

Our ancestors came from the Pfohl family in Sursburg Alsace-Lorranie France (Germany at times) (Anton Pfohl b. 1806.He immigrated to Preston (Cambridge Ontario) around 1835. His family was Catholic. One of his brothers became a priest? and travelled to Africa where he became quite wealthy. When he died, his fortune was passed on and found its way to the Pfohl '"clan" in the Buffalo area, we believe. Our gang refused to acknowledge the letters and advice that they come to France to register for their part of the inheritance. That' s the way the story goes

It's been a while since we contacted each other but I don't remember if I asked you who your Lena Pfohl was the daughter of. Could her name have been Magdalena? I have several of them.

Sorry, but I don't go back that far in my records. I wish I did, though.

My Mother's Mother was a Pfohl. This piece of the family was in Jersey City, NJ. I know very little, and have just begun my journey to learn. There was an old family story that said the were many (can't recall the number) brothers that came over to America (it seemed to be maybe my Mother's Granfather but but that is fuzzy) and they settled in various places and never looked each other up? I always assumed that was 1800 mid centrury or so, but no data as of yet. Does that fit anyone's puzzle?
