Looking for any info. on the Pfiffner family. I'm surprised that no one started a board since I've seen a few queries.

Anyway, in my tree I have an Edmund G. Pfiffner who married Clara Miller (Have a lot of info on her side). His parents were Gustave (sp??) Pfiffner and Augusta(Last name????) If anyone knows of any brothers/sisters etc. I would be ever so grateful. Edmund is my great grandfather but my grandmother doesn't remember much about that side.

Thanks
Andrea Reichenberger

Hi Andrea,
ich hoffe du verstehst deutsch, fall nicht viel spass mit dem Wörterbuch :-). Wir (mein Freund und ich) haben auch gerade im Internet nach Ahnen gesucht. Also meine Freundin heißt
Iris Pfiffner ihr Vater Ferdinand Pfiffner dessen Eltern stammen aus Gersthofen bei Augsburg. Falls du irgendwelche
Informationen hast oder selber genaueres wissen willst schreib doch einfach eine E-Mail an IrisPfiffner@gmx.de.
Danke :-)

Hello Andrea: I too have been surprised that there has been no Pfiffner board. I guess I shouldn't be surprised since I haven't had the ambition to start one!!! Now that you have, I'll jump in.

Unfortunately, I don't have any info for you about the family members you're searching for. I had an August Pfiffner, but no Gustave. My family was from Switzerland and settled along the Mississipi River in Illinois and Iowa -- mostly in Dubuque, Iowa. The immigrants came to U.S. in 1843. I have a lot of information about this line, but also have some brick walls to get around. I'd be happy to correspond with any other reseachers of the Pfiffner name and exchange information.

I really don't have a great deal of info about my Pfiffner connection. Although I do know that a lot of my relation is in the Iowa area. Apparently my grandmother has a bible with some of the family tree info, but I won't be able to get my hnads on that info. until Christmas. Any help would be appreciated. (I apologize for not responding sooner, I just had a baby 3 weeks ago! Things have been a bit hectic!)

My grandmother is Anna Mae Pfiffner. Daughter of Edmund G. Pfiffner and Clara Miller. I'm not sure if Gustave was Edmund's father's name or not, and I think (not sure) if his mother's name was Augusta. My grandmother was born in Lansing, Iowa. She was the youngest of 9 children. I also know that she has other relation in Dubuque because I remember meeting a Catholic priest with the last name of Pfiffner that was a distant cousin of my grandmother. Other than that I don't know much so maybe we can make a connection and figure this out.

Keep in touch!

Andrea

I am searching for my birth mother. Her maiden name was pfiffner. She was from Iowa and she would be about 60 years old. She may be a twin.

I was just thumbing through the internet and happened upon this board.

I have been told that my great grandfathers name is Gustave. I have no information about dates for this man. If what I was told is true his son Joseph was my grandfather. My grandfather lived in Cedar Rapids and died in 1968.

That makes sense for I have run into a Joseph in the census records. Do you have any dates on your grandfather or any other info. that you can provide. I just recently received some info. from my great aunt who states that Gustav Pfiffner married Augusta Thamann on Feb. 9 1885. Together they had 13 children. Clara, Edward, Ray, Bill, Alfred, Joe, Cyril, Roman, Leo, Delphine, Regina, Marie, and Frances. This Joe may be your grandfather.

Any info. you can provide will be helpful.

E-mail me personally if you would like. Use the posted e-mail or atreich@athenet.net
Thanks
Andrea

I don't have any info on the specific Pfiffner you mentioned but I have done extensive Pfiffner research and have my line back to about 1710 in Weistannen, St. Gallen, Switzerland. Do you have any dates or locations for those names? My line and another Pfiffner family came up the Mississippi from New Orleans in 1843 and settled for a few years near St. Louis then when to Galena,IL then on to Dubuque County, Iowa in 1859.
