Gerald F. "Jerry" Pfeifer, 83 of Zanesville, Ohio died peacefully at 8:50 PM Friday, April 18, 2014 at Willow Haven Care Center, surrounded by his family.
He was born Monday, May 12, 1930 in Zanesville, Ohio the son of Fred T. Pfeifer and Mary (Silvus) Pfeifer.
He married Glenna (Maxwell) Pfeifer on Saturday, June 16, 1951 and was a member of St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church.
Jerry served his country as a veteran of the United States Army during the Korean Conflict.
He was a bricklayer and retired following many years in the local construction industry.
As a local bricklayer Jerry had a hand in laying brick for many of the finest buildings in Zanesville and the surrounding community.
He was a member of the International Union of Bricklayers and Allied Craftworkers Union Local # 44.
He enjoyed hunting, camping, fishing and was an avid square dancer.
He drew great pleasure from finding treasurers with his metal detector.
Jerry was a loving and caring husband and father.
In addition to his wife of 62 years: Glenna Pfeifer, Jerry is survived by three daughters: Linda Pfeifer of Zanesville, Mary A. Pfeifer of Marietta, and Teresa M. & Mike Denny of Marengo, OH; one son: Gerald Richard "Rick" & Shirley Pfeifer of Zanesville; one sister: Mary Lou & Harold Roessler of Zanesville and a special friend: Jim & Laura Wilbur.
Gerald was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers: Robert Pfeifer and Walter Preifer and four sisters: Margaret Perine, Gertrude Long, Rita Winters and Eleanor Swank
Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 10:00 AM, Tuesday, April 22, 2014 at St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church, 144 North Fifth Street, Zanesville.
Burial will follow in Mt. Olive Cemetery with VFW Post 1058 conducting Full Military Honors. The Hillis, Combs & Nestor Funeral Home is caring for the Pfeifer Family
