I am looking for any one who is or knows of relations to John Scussell Jr. He lived in Salt Lake city, Utah and had three children born there. Their mothers name was Virginia Scussell. Her Maiden name was Lopez
John Scussell jr was then a fireman in Valljo California and had one or more children born there, the mother being Virginia Scussell also. He then moved to Chicago, Ill. I believe there he was retired. The mother Virginia pasted away before moving to Chicago I believe. John Scussell jr was remarried during the time leaving California. This information is just the bids and pieces I have been able to gather. Some of the children of John and Virginia are Virginia, Allen, John, Lillian, Gloria, Charmayne, Jack, Eugene and Frank.
Anyone having any information in regard to this family please e-mail me at scussellelegend@aol.com

By the way. I do happen to know, that many years ago, John's name was spelled: Scussel I am not sure when or why the second "L" was added. I do know there is a "family" page called "Scussels in The World" on Facebook. There are many Scussel's listed there, for all regions of the world. You may want to check it out, if you haven't already.

Thanks, Doug

For a bit further information, I will say this. I believe that Gloria got pregnant in August of 1948, at the age of 17. She was possibly married in September of 1948, to a Stanley Davis. (this I am not sure about) I know she was pregnant in August of 1948 as my birth certificate says that I was a 9 month full term baby. She went to Spokane, Washington sometime in late 1948 or early 1949. She gave birth to me just less than two (2) months after her 18th birthday. He sister Lillian, also lived in Spokane at least during the year of 1949, and worked as a waitress I do believe. I was adopted in May of 1949, at about 2-3 days old. Her other sister, Jennie (Virginia maybe) married a gentleman from the Spokane valley area (Opportunity, Washington) and they were both killed in a traffic accident, in Bonners Ferry, Idaho in 1950. Bonners Ferry is a very short distance from Spokane. I am not 100% sure of all of this, however, I do know that the birth information listed above is indeed correct. A week ago Friday, I received a copy of my "original" birth certificate. I found my original birth certificate had been sealed as was held in Olympia, Washington. I finally had to get a Superior Court Judge to sign an order to open them. It lists Gloria Scussell as my "birth" mother at that time. The one thing about it that I don't understand is, IF, she was married in 1948, why was I born with ONLY her "maiden" name of Scussell, with NO fathers name listed on the birth certificate. My birthday is listed as May 3rd. but a statement on the birth certificate states that I was born at 8pm on May 5th. I am not sure why the difference in dates. I am not sure how an adoption works exactly but the two (2) day difference may mean that I was given up for adoption on the 5th, but born on the 3rd. I have no idea for sure. I am in hopes from your post that you may be able to fill in some of the blanks about where I really came from. I started out, in search, of my "birth" mother to tell her just one thing. I wanted to tell her that it was okay. I turned out fine, with loving parents, and that I hoped she had not beaten herself up over the years for doing something she obviously had no choice but to do at the time. I just want her to know that is was just fine. If you can help me in my search, I would be forever grateful. Both of my adoptive parents have passed away, so I thought I would pursue this just a bit. I never did it earlier as I had no intention of hurting my parents feelings. They are truly my Mom and Dad, as they are the only parents I have ever known. My search means no disrespect to them. Thank you so very much for this post that I happened on to, by accident. (or was it?)
