My greatgrandmother was Isabell Pfeffer and her husband was Jacob C. Tempel. Although Isabell was born in Champaign IL, her husband's family has roots in Ferdinand, IN
Some of Jacob's siblings were born there and Jacob was born in nearby Bretzville. Later they moved to IL where he married my greatgrandmother. Also, Jacob's grandfather, John Tempel, was born in Bavaria in 1795 . Is there a connection?
E-mail me and maybe we can figure it out.

All that I have is Frances Pfeffer/Pfeiffer, born May 1838 in Bavaria, died 1911 in Fredinand, IN. She married Nicolaus Wigger, Jul 6, 1857 in Ferdinand, IN. They had 10 children. Their daughter, Margaretha was my ggrandmother. She married Nicholas Werne, in Ferdinand, May 29, 1894. It is uncertain what year they moved to Daviess Co. KY. She is buried there. Other names associated with them are:Schumacher, Mahling, Lotscher, Fridli, Husslingger, Fisch, Jent, Hedinger, Voegerl, Remke, Gogel, Dali, Hollandar, Demuth, Dilger. I also have a Joseph Pfeffer married to Verena Wigger, Apr 10, 1866, in Ferdinand. Can you see any connections? Carolyn

Apparently there are several marriages between the Jent's and the Werne's. In my family (Jaent). By the way out of 6 brothers of my ggrandfather, there are 6 different spellings of the Jent name. I have a Paul Jent marrying a Josephine Werne. I don't know much more escept Paul eventually went to New Orleans. In the same generation which was between the years of birth, 1851 to 1867, I have an Adam Werne Marrying a Theresa Jent. All of this was in Ferdinand, or St. Meinrad Indiana. My ggrandfather is buried there and my grandfather, Joseph Jaent is buried in Jasper Indiana. I would love to compare some information I have with you if you feel it would be worth it.

My greatgrandfather was Adam Werne whom married Theresa
Jent whose full name is Anna Theresa Jent. They were from the Ferdinand/St. Meinrad area. My grandfather Victor lived in St. Meinrad with wife Josephine Kunkler.

I have been away from the genealogy of our family for a little while as I went to work at airport security 2 months before the events of 911. However, I do know we are related. I remember a Werne and a Kunkler in our family tree. I will have to look back at my research and see how we are related. I am not certain, but I believe your greatgrandmother and my grandfather (or great grandfather) were brothers. I hope I can get back to you real soon. I am in Phoenix Az now, but my wife is going to Evansville in two weeks and hopes to go to Jasper, where my mother was born and see if she can learn anything. Thanks for your interest
