Would like to exchange info on John PFEFFER, born 5 Oct 1853 in Wuerttemberg. In 1871 at age 17 1/2 and trained as a cooper he left Germany for America. A sister, Anna Maria Pfeffer born in 1849 left Germany in 1865, settled in Utica, NY, and married George Farber. A brother, Johann Martin Pfeffer born in 1851 and immigrated in 1869, first went to Utica, and in mid 1860s moved to Philadelphia. I have not been able to trace John. Perhaps there is a descendant who would like to assist me.

Is it possible John PFEFFER subject of my inquiry had settled in Danbury, CT? 1900 census reveals a John PFEFFER born in Germany Oct 1853 was married to Mary, born Jan 1850 in CT; they had two daughters, Agnes born Aug 1879 and Anna born Dec 1881. Surname spelled Peffer in 1910 census. He was a hat finisher. Still seek to exchange info.

Thank you for reply. If there is some way you can document that Anna Pfeffer was the daughter of John Pfeffer who had been born in Württemberg 5 Oct 1853 I can give you a great deal of info about the village of his birth in Germany and trace your ancestors into the 17th century. Example: Do you have death info of your great grandmother such as death certificate. Perhaps she was buried in same cemetery as her father. Prefer reply direct at djsautter@aol.com. My interest is specifically related to those from the small village in Germany which suffered greatly from poverty in the 18th century. Not part of my study is fact that I would be distantly related.
