Looking for information on Harriet Amanda Pfahl, who married Thomas Basher Clapper. They lived in Cleveland Ohio in 1900-1920, and had several children, possibly Richard; definitely Helen Marie (who m. Clarence J. O'Kelley) and Harold Thomas Clapper, b. 11 Sept 1915.

Hi Barbara,
Found your post while doing a search for my Clapper relatives.I pulled something on a Harriet A. Pfahl Clapper from the obituary files of Cleveland Public Library and it lists Harriet as the wife of Joseph B. Clapper. Her children are listed as Harold T. and Mrs. C.J. O'Kelley; Grandchildren are Clarence and James Francis O'Kelley; siblings F.G., Charles L.. William B. of Columbus and Dan Pfahl. Her residence is given as 11029 Detroit Ave. The obituary is dated Oct. 11, 1939.
A previous obituary for Joseph Clapper in 1925 lists Harriet A. as his wife, and lists him as the father of Richard Maxwell, Helen M. and Harold T. His residence is listed as 1370 Ethel Ave. in Lakewood, Ohio.
I am reasonably certain that Joseph B. Clapper is the brother of my great grandfather, Perry Clapper. They are buried next to each other in Lakewood Park Cemetary. If Harriet is also buried there, her grave is unmarked - there is no stone.
I note that you have Harriet's husband listed as Thomas Basher Clapper and wonder where you got that information. Could Thomas and Joseph be the same person?? Would love to exhange ideas and leads with you as I try to puzzle out any connection. - Carla

Hi there- I read your post for your search. I can tell you that Helen was my grandmother and was living in Olmsted Falls, Ohio until she passed away in the early 80's. Her son was my father Clarence Jr. and ironically all that I know is that Helen had married Arthur Pfahl? after her first husband Clarence O. had passed away in the early seventies. I regret to inform that all of these people I have mentioned have since passed away. Good Luck in your search.

Carla,
This is SO belated (sorry, life has intervened) that I hope you get it & can reply. My new email = bmw@qis.net.
You're right, it was JOSEPH, not THOMAS, Bashur Clapper to whom Hattie Pfahl was married. Their son Harold (Hal) was my stepfather.
Do you have any more information on Richard Maxwell Clapper? I remember being told that he was a talented musician who traveled in vaudeville, but that's all I know.
Best, Barbara
