Seeking information on A.R. Pfafflin and/or his wife Mary Murphy Ruff Pfafflin--were living in Pennsylvania but moved to last known address in Florida. Mary was the widow of Joseph Ruff when she married A.R. Pfafflin. Mary died in the early 1980's. Any relatives?

Sorry, I don't have any information for you. I was looking up Pfafflin to find his wife (the widow of my great uncle). Good luck to you.

Shot in the dark!
My GG-Grandmother was Helene Eberhardine Friederike Pfafflin. Her father was Ludwig Friedrich Pfafflin, mother Louise, born Schlayer. She was born in Cannstatt, Germany.
The family imigrated to America when Helene was seven, in 1854, because the father had been on the losing side of the abortive revolution in 1848. He and the boys went first followed by the mother and the younger children. The father died not long after arriving of an epidemic.
I will have the full baptism record soon, maybe there will be a name to connect. I am sure that they do somewhere.

To Susan: Ludwig is my Great Great Great Grandfather. Ludwig and Louise had seventeen children. Your Great Great Grandmother's brother, Julius Ernst Pfafflin (1838-1908), is my Great Great Grandfather.

Susan,
My E-mail address is mlpfafflin@kih.net

I have several things which would interest you including a copy of our family tree beginning with the seventeen children of Ludwig Friederich Pfafflin and Louise Schlayer Pfafflin and a black and white copy of the family coat of arms from the Hapsburg Holy Roman Emporer Ferdinand II for services rendered during the Thirty Years War. On the tree under the names of the seventeen children the only ones extended are for Adolph Gottlieb and Mary App Pfafflin and for Julius Enrnst and Rosena ? Pfafflin. These two extensions are the children who settled in Evansville, Indiana. The rest scattered about the U.S.A. so we don't know who they are. If you can find a U.S. Geological Survey map of Newburgh, Indiana look one mile east of town and you will see Pfafflin Lake near the Ohio River. This lake was built by my grandfather, Karl L. Pfafflin, in 1945-6.

Looking forward to hearing from you.

Michael Pfafflin informed me of your correspondence with him. Our list of the children was prepared by Helene's sister, Mathilda in 1912. She died in 1914. There were also a couple of children who died in infancy My research seemed to indicate that the place of origin was Rosenfeld, Wurttemburg. Did the whole family live in Cannstatt prior to leaving, or did they live there after Ludwig and the boys went to America?

Cannstatt

Hello.
Michael sent me the family tree yesterday. Thank you so much. I will fill in our pieces and get it to you.
As to your question; from the letter that Helene wrote to Emma (her daughter)it would seem that they all were in Cannstatt when she was a little girl. I'll forward it to you if you don't have it. Virginia Story Spriggs who is Helene's daughter Eloise Decker (Story) went to Germany somewhere around 91-92, (as actually did Eloise which participated the letter from Helene to Emma,) and gathered information. She had copied for us the Baptism records from Evangelical Church Office and the State archive in Stuttgart. My mother tried her best to send it to me, but not knowing exactly what it was I was looking for, sent me parts of the German version. I told her I would get the next time I was over, (she lives in North Carolina.)
Anyway, Virginia wrote from some tid-bit of knowledge that Helene, had left Cannstatt when she was seven, for America. Judging by her (Helene's) letter, it would seem she was there all of her childhood. It would seem also by what Virginia states that around 1848, or so is when the father and the boys had come over. It also states that the father died of an epedimic not long after arriving to America.
Are you totally confused?
You can email me at smlipman@mindspring.com if you would like.

I am the daughter of Donald Fredrick Pfafflin. My grandfather was Gustav Fredrick Pfafflin. My father was raised by his Pfafflin grandparents in Richmond Indiana. The grandparents I believe were first generation Americans. My father has one sister, Phyllis. My father is still living but does not talk much about his family. I have been only been able to get small detail from him. I have found out more from my mother because she was born in Richmond. My mother talked about a Michael Pfafflin she thought was related to the family distantly, maybe a cousin. Read message board, I believe we could be related.
