JOSEPH J. PEZZANA
VANDERGRIFT
Joseph John Pezzana, 72, of 323 Walnut St., Vandergrift, died at 9 a.m. Wednesday (Sept. 21, 1994) in Allegheny Valley Hospital, Harrison. where he was a patient the past week.
Born Nov. 20, 1921, in Hyde Park, he lived in Vandergrift since 1951 and at his Walnut Street residence since 1957.
He was a 1938 graduate of Leechburg Area High School.
Mr. Pezzana served in the Army during World War II as a technician fifth grade, Headquarters and Service Co., 759th Railway Operation Battalion.
A maintenance custodian at the Vandergrift branch of the U.S. Post Office, he was employed there for 29 years before retiring in 1981.
He was a member of St. Gertrude Roman Catholic Church, Vandergrift, where he was an usher for more than 35 years and a member of the Holy Name Society. He was an assistant scoutmaster and committee member with the Vandergrift Boy Scout Troop of St. Gertrude Church and was a member of the Order of the Arrow.
Survivors include his wife of 47 years, Victoria Ann "Vicky" Toncini Pezzana; a son, Daniel Joseph Pezzana of Aurora, Ill.; a grandson; and two brothers, John Pezzana of Vandergrift and Mario Pezzana of Hyde Park.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Riccardo and Angeline Dezutti Pezzana; and a sister, Margaret Pezzana.
Friends will be received from 7 to 9 tonight and from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Friday in the BRADY-CLINE FUNERAL HOME, 429 Franklin Ave., Vandergrift, where a parting prayer service will be held at 9:30 a.m. Saturday. Christian Funeral Mass will follow at 10 a.m. in St. Gertrude Church. Burial will follow in St. Catherine Cemetery, Gilpin. The joint veterans of Vandergrift will conduct memorial services at 7:30 p.m. Friday in the funeral home.
