I am Phillip Peynado. My dad's dad was called Terence Peynado
and was Jamaican, from Westmorland. He died in 1996 at 82.
The five children are now living in London but were all born in
Jamaica. They are :Raymond, LLoyd, Calvin, Dudley, Lawrence and Millicent.
There are also a lot of Peynado's who are in my generation between 20 - 30ish in London.
For any other names I know, or if you know exactly how we are related, what our name means or where it originates, please let me know on: thatblokeumet@yahoo.co.uk

Thanks,
Phillip

Hi to all Peynado's.
Hi I'm Simon from Wolverhampton England. My dad originates from Ketto Springfield Jamaica (Shirley Peynado). For Phillip, there too are a few Peynado's in Wolverhampton, my father was a very busy man, I am the youngest from his first marriage.

For the name Peynado, I am under the impression that it comes from Spain (I am certain about that). The meaning means either well groomed or comb. There is a small town in Spain called Peynado noted at one point for jewellery making. If history serves right, combs of the 1600s were object of wealth,i.e, that they were made of gold and specially designed. The name Peynado is Sephardic Jewish, whos people, more or less travelled throughout southern Europe in the middle ages, and settled in France, Spain and Portugal. I can not be certian about this point, but the sephardic Jews may have travelled from Etheopia or north-east Africa. Also the name Peynado has a Spainish Coat of Arms attached to it.

Anyway, hope further information shall be supplied by others who are eager to share their knowledge.

Keep researching
Simon Peynado
