COSHOCTON: Margaret Lou Pew, 85, of St. Rt. 643, Coshocton, Ohio, passed away at Coshocton County Memorial Hospital on Monday, October 24, 2011, after a brief illness.
She was born on April 21, 1926, the daughter of the late Jay and Esta (McBride) Lawrence in Millcreek Twp., Ohio.
She attended a one room school named Grade, and later transferred to Keene where she graduated in 1943.
She married the love of her life, Raymond S. Pew on August 1, 1943, and like other war brides she worked various jobs, including the Coshocton Area Chamber of Commerce, Shaw-Barton, and for Dr. Kistler, while Raymond was overseas. Upon his return, they settled on their farm in Keene Twp., where she helped with all aspects of the farming operation for the past 68 years.
She was an active member of the Keene Happy Neighbors Extension Club, the Keene United Methodist Church, and her card club, which began in the 1940's.
She enjoyed flower gardening, collecting antiques, and her family.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Lee and Phyllis Debnar of Millersburg, Ohio, a sister, Gwen Snyder of Coshocton, a niece, Lynn (David) Roenbaugh, nephew Melvin Pew, grandchildren, Larene (J) Hall, LaVonna (Greg) Gress, great-grandchildren, Brandan Smith, Brittleigh Smith, Zanon Hall, and Landan Gress, and a great-great-grandson, Jace Allen. Margaret Lou is also survived by great nieces, Amanda (Tony) Meiser, Melissa (Dan) Winner, and great nephew, Mark Roenbaugh. She was preceded in death by her son, Jay S. Pew.
A funeral service for Margaret Lou will be held in the Chapel of Given-Dawson Funeral Home, 186 Park Avenue, Coshocton, Ohio, 43812, on Friday, October 28, 2011, at 11:00am, with Pastor Dariel Kaiser officiating.
Burial will follow in South Lawn Cemetery, Coshocton, Ohio. The family will receive friends and neighbors at Given-Dawson Funeral Home on Thursday, October 27, 2011, from 5 to 8pm, and one hour prior to the funeral service on Friday.
