My great-grandfather was Richard Edward Peverill Crane. His father was Edward Crane and his mother was Mary Peverill. Richard was born in 1873 in Alexandria, Virginia. I have a copy of Mary Peverill Crane's will and she indicates that she and her husband Edward raise Richard from infancy which leads me to believe he was adopted. There are many Peverills in the Alexandria, Fairfax County of Virginia. Mary's mother was Sarah Penn Peverill and her father was George Peverill. Any additional information would be appreciated. Richard's wife was Sarah Ann Curtin Crane and they had 10 children.

You ask for information - exactly what kind of information are you after?

Is it on Mary PEVERILL or Edward CRANE? Or Richard's descendents?

Thanks for responding Fiona. I guess what I'm most curious about is who Richard's real parents are. I'm guessing he was a Peverill and I know there were many in the Alexandria area and my grandmother seemed familiar with them. Any other information on Mary and Edward would be appreciated as well. I can find Mary's mother and father but nothing about Edward.

Thank you,

Karen

Hi Karen

I am sorry but I know nothing about US records, but a look at the local baptism and death records might yield something - like a possible sister of his mother dying in childbirth?

Thanks. I've tried to find something online, but have had no luck. I guess I'll have to try to find some time to get to Alexandria, VA and check out the records there. I'm not too far from there, however, I'd have to take the day off from work to do the research.

I appreciate your willingness to help.
