In 1833 Jacob Pevehouse obtained an entitlement for one league of land in the new Republic of Texas located then in Austin County, Mexico. He died in 1840 and a fight in the courts went on for years for his property etc in the Austin County courts. There are over 100 pages of documents. The Pevehouse name is spelled differently on many different documents depending on how the court clerks spelled the name.

Have you tried the archives for this list? Copies were on the list many years ago.

You can get a copy from Austin County Clerk but it was a dollar a page when I got mine years ago and is over 100 pages and covers the years 1840-1855. There are a few pages online at the Navarro County Texas site.

James Pevehouse b. 7 apr 1802 was the son of Jacob, but he died the year after his father Jacob did in 1841. He was married to Mary Polly Hodge whos father Alexander also had an early land grant in Austin so your family may have received land from them both of the grandfathers.

Also just a thought go to the newspaper online that the article came from and check out the old files. Many papers keep copies of the old papers and who can view them for a fee. There may be further information later in that same paper.
