Louisa Jane Pevehouse, Brown Co., Il. (1850)
My gr.gr.grandmother was Louisa Jane Pevehouse, born around 1846, to Isaac Newton Pevehouse and Edith Evan. For some reason she is listed with a family named Srahan in the 1850 census in Brown County, Illinois.
I am looking for information on who the Strahans were and why they had Louisa Jane, at age 4 yrs. I'm also looking for information on what happened to Isaac Newton Pevehouse and his wife Edith Evan and were there other siblings from this family?
Thanks so much, Sondra

I have Issac Newton Pevehouse as dying 20 Aug 1906 at Camp Point, Adams County, Illinois. And also that he married second Eliza Jane Clarkson about 1850. Perhaps Edith died and the children being so young were taken in by relatives of some type.

Re: Issac Newton Pevehouse
Becky,
Thank you for the information on Issac Newton's death date and his second marriage. I have an uncle in Illinois and he has quicker access to the records than I do, so I'll forward this information to him and see if what you think might have happened, regarding Louisa Jane Pevehouse, actually did happen. Do you know if Issac and Eliza Jane had any children from this second marriage? It would be nice to know of any other cousins in the family.
Thank you, again, for the help and take care, Sondra Roos

Re: Louisa Jane Pevehouse, Brown Co., Il. (1850)
Well I have just found out last night that Louisa Jane Pevehouse does have at least one brother (James H. Pevehouse) and I think another sister (name unknown). Now I am wondering the same question about what happened to Isaac and Edith, because like you, I found James listed with a Mary Evans. Now, I don't know if Mary is Edith, or if she is a sister or some other relation to Edith. I have been looking for James H. for a long time now, so this news is still new to me and will be doing more digging. Hope this gives you some light at the end of your tunnel. I did find date of death for Isaac as being in 1906, I believe, in Camp Point, Adams Co, ILL. So who knows why the children weren't living with them.

Re: Issac Newton Pevehouse
Louisa Jane Pevehouse was born 7 Apr 1846 in Illinois and died about 1902 in Colchester, Illinois. She was the daughter of Issac Newton Pevehouse and Edith Evans. Her grandfather was indeed John Pevehouse but is usually known as John Jackson Pevehouse who was born 26 Dec 1776 at Northampton, Pennsylvania and died 17 Nov 1842 at Coatsburg, Adams County, Illinois. Her grandmother was indeed Mary also known as Polly Beeson who was born 23 July 1793 in Virginia and died 10 Jun 1851 also at Coatsburg.
