The Purefoy family dates back to 1200 in County Leicestershire, England. The name has French influence, probably through the Norman invasion. The earliest Purefoy to America was Cpt. Thomas Purefoy, who immigrated to Jamestown on the ship George in 1621. His Father, Humphrie, and Grandfather, Sir Nicholas, were subscribers to the Virginia colony. His descendants migrated to Craven County, New Bern, North Carolina. From there several sons went to Georgia to Alabama, Arkansas and Texas.

Robert, You have my name above, my father's name was David Carroll Jr. and my Grandfather was David Carroll Sr. My grandfather resided until death in Vivian Loisiana and my Father resided until his death in Artesia New Mexico. Any Connection?

Dear David,
Thanks for responding. You may be one of my missing links.
I have been trying to connect many of the current generation
back to the older generation that came out of North Carolina,
Georgia, and Alabama.
I'm sure there is a connection there somewhere.
It would help if I knew the dates, places of your Great Grandfather
as well as your grandfather and father. I haven't looked
into the Lousiana Census records but will soon.
Some of the descendants of John Wesley Peurifoy migrated to
Alabama and then possibly to Lousisana.
Where is your location. Send me an email and I'll
try to send some of my family tree information.
I look forward to hearing from you.

Hi David,
Thanks for responding to my inquiry. I'll keep the information
till I can fit you into the family tree.
I am interested in your father's WWII experience. My Dad, Robert E.
Peurifoy, served in the 4th Marine Division, 23rd battalion. Wounded
on the invasion of Iwo Jima was set back to the stated and was a guard
in the Navy Yard in Washington, D.C. when the war ended.
I'll be in touch.

David,
It would help with my search to know if your Dad and GrandDad had brothers and sister, along with birthdays and birthplaces.
There are a number of Peurifoys in Texas, but I do not have any connections with them yet. This is one of my
projects for the next couple of months.
Robert

Robert,

That's interesting. My father was
with the 5th Marine Division, 28th Regiment.
Landed at Iwo Jima and stayed thru the
entire battle. Later went to Japan with
the occupation. I am trying to find out
some information about my Great Grandfather.
I'll drop you a line...Thanks...David
