Surnames: Peura, Perry, Ecklund?, Gray
I am looking for information on the family of Matti and Marie Peura. They came to Massachusetts from Finland in 1890. They made their home in the Gloucester area and had a large family. Olga, Teckla, Selma, Ellen, Matti, Aldolph, Jacob, Arthur, Albanus, and Arthur. Some of their children changed their last name to Perry. I am interested in any information on Teckla, Albanus, and Alex. I am also willing to share information I already have.

Hi Listers;
During my search for my grandparents,Matti and Marie Peura (Finland to
Gloucester,Mass.), I came upon a wonderful Finnish lady that lives in
Holden,Mass. I spoke to her by phone as her last name was Peura. She doesn't
have e-mail service. She sent me 4 index pages of her family tree. (snail
mail). I did not have a match with her Peura's.
Her list of names ( just from the 4 page index ) are as follows;
Oikarinen, Oikia, Ojala, Ojanen, Ojaniemi, Ojanpera, Oksanen, Olkkonen,
Ollila, Olsson, Oravamaki, Outila, Outinen, Paananen, Paappa, Paavola,
Paikkala, Pajunen, Pajuniemi, Pakari, Palagyi, Palanne, Pallonen,Palmu,
Paloniemi, Paluoja, Panttila, Parmen, Paronen, Partanen, Parviainen,
Paulamaki,Paunila, Pearce, Pekkala, Pelkonen, Pellikka, Peltokangas,
Peltokoski, Peltola, Peltonen, Peltoniemi, Pennala, Pensomaa, Penttila,
Penttinen, Perala, Peramaki,Pesonen, Petterson, Peuhkuri, Peura, Peuramaki,
Pietila, Pihlaja, Pihlajamaki, Piilahti, Piirto, Piirtola, Pirila,
Pirttijoki, Pirttilahti, Pirttimaa, Pirttisarka, Pohja, Pohjasmaki, Pokka,
Pollari, Porrassalmi, Poukka, Propp, Puhakka, Puntila, Puro, Puronsivu,
Purra, Pusa, Pusaa, Puska, Puskala, Puukkoniemi, Puustinen, Pyy, Paivinen,

Poytalaakso, Raevirta, Raiskio, Raita, Raitanen, Raittila, Raittinen,
Raivio, Raja, Rajakoski.
Under each surname is a list of first names and a date, I assume
birthdate. Most of the names do not go back to far. Only to early to mid
1800's. If you see your last name on here I will gladly look up the first
name. If the name your looking for is on my list I will give you this lady's
snail mail address.
I also have a small book about Gloucester, Mass. in the late 1800's. There
are alot of names in there of Finnish people who worked in the Granite
Quarries. I'll be happy to do a look-up.

Don't know if these were relatives.
My uncle was Hugo Peura and my grandmother whose maiden name was Elma Peura.
Do know that they were from Finland and their family has a homestead in Washington State. What I know from my father is that the original family member that came out west was Kalib (spelling???)
Hope this is helpful.
