I think you will find Carrie Zula Stubblefield is the daughter of Thomas E. and Martha Ann "Mattie" (Vickers) Stubblefield. She is listed as Carrie Z. in the 1900 census. In 1930 she is listed with her brother, Forest Stubblefield.

Are you related to this line?

John S. Stubblefield's son: Thomas E. Stubblefield b: 25 Mar 1870 Hopkins Co., TX m: Martha Ann Vickers b: c.1870 b: TX father TX mother VA (who are her parents?)

Thomas E. Stubblefield & Martha (Mattie)Ann Vickers children:
Forest Stubblefield 1891 Hopkins Co., TX
John C. Stubblefield 1897 "
Steven Stubblefield 1905 TX
Perhaps more? see 1910 census TX it says Mattie had ten children , nine survived:
It was hard to read so names may be wrong:
Thomas E. Stubblefield is not listed, so "Mattie" is a widow.
Forest would be 19 years and is not listed 1910.

John S. Stubblefield is the brother to my GGreat grandfather ABSOLOM [various spellings] STUBBLEFIELD.

I am the GGreat-granddaughter of Absolom Stubblefield :
see listed as the last child of NANCY ANN
CLORENCE [various spellings]- STUBBLEFIELD & UNKNOWN STUBBLEFIELD.

We have a family ancestor
"Unknown" Stubblefield
(said to have been born in TN)
married: c. 1819 to NANCY ANN "CLORENCE",
born 23 May 1800 in SC/NC
They had Eight children:
> Polly Stubblefield 1819 AL m: Chappell or Kincaid
> William Riley Stubblefield 1822 AL
m: # 1:Jane Nelson / m: # 2:Mary Belch
> Martha Ann Stubblefield 1823 AL
m: # 1 W.M.Williams / m: # 2 Foster
> James Stubblefield 1825 AL m: Melton
> John S.Stubblefield 1827 AL m: Bell
> Molinda Stubblefield 1830 AL m: Grissom
> Robert Coleman Stubblefield 1834 AL m: Hobbs
> Absolom Stubblefield 1841 TENN. m: Harris

I have a lead on who the Unknown Stubblefield's ancestors are.

JOHN S. & ABSOLOM are two of the eight siblings. We find their mother NANCY "CLORANCE" STUBBLEFIELD in the 1830 & 1840 census Jackson County, AL,

William R. Stubblefield and Jane Nelson were married 17 dec 1844 in Franklin County, Tennessee;

Mary/Polly Stubblefield to William J Kincaid 5 Dec 1847;
married Wilson County Tennessee by Henry Truett, JP

Whitley's Marriages of Wilson Co., TN, 1802-1850, p. 220, Entry # 9 for 1848. shows John Stubblefield & Betthew BELL, m. 17 January 1848, by David Byrd Moore, MG.
Entry #10 is Allen H. Grissom m. Malinda Stubblefied, 13 January 1848, also m. by D. B. Moore.

Eldridge P Bell to Eleanor Grissom
- 30 Jan 1848 - Wilson County, Tennessee

Andrew Bell to Parolee Yeates(Yates)
- 21 Oct 1852 - Gibson County, Tennessee

Stephen Grissom to Ann Eliza Grissom
- 9 Mar 1841 - Wilson County, Tennessee

Ridious Bridges to Candis Grissom
- married 20 Jul 1839 in Marshall County, Alabama;
[actual name is Aurelius Bridges]

Allen Grissom to Malinda Stubblefield
- 13 Jan 1848 - Wilson County, Tennessee

Willis B Grissom to Margarette Cash
- 3 Oct 1854 - Gibson County, Tennessee
These Grissom, Bell, Stubblefield & Bridges families most all stayed connected down through the successive census. I have often wondered if their ancestors were connected before these marriages.

Then we find Nancy with four of her sons [with their young families] & two married daughters [with their young families] in the 1850 census Gibson County TN....they have started moving West indicated by this location.

William R Stubblefield to Mary Belch, licence issued 1 Jun 1858 married 3 Jun
1858; Bondsman was John Stubblefield.(John is William's brother)

I would enjoy knowing more about the Stubblefield-Peugh line.

I'm working on James William Peugh's brother's line, Eldridge Peugh. I thought I would check out James William Peugh's family to see if there were any clues to their father's side of the family.

Their mother was Martha A. (Underwood) Peugh. She was Ella (Underwood) Stubblefield's aunt. So it appears that Stubblefield brother and sister married first cousins - Underwood/Peugh.

Also the geographical locations are interesting also, I have those Stubblefield sibling marriages in Wilson County, TN [& there were UNDERWOODS in the area] and then finding the Stubblefield families moving to Gibson Co TN , then some moving to CA & some to Hopkins County, TX [the same UNDERWOOD family is there too].

So I know that when I see Underwoods or Stubblefields in TX to look around for the other.

I found an on line manuscript book called THE OLD BRICK CHURCHES OF MARYLAND by Helen West Ridgely. On page 44 it mentions a Matthias Jones “Oim et de jure Glendower” It goes on to say Matthias was a turbulent descendant of Glendower and had joined in the Monmouth Rebellion which was about 1685. Matthias was forced to leave the country and take refuge in Maryland and bought part of Cross Manor, St. Mary’s, MD.
