My maternal grandfather was John Pesavento, born c.1881-1885 in Italy. He married my grandmother, Mary Carpenter on 28 October 1908. They had one child, my mother, Catherine Barbara Pesavento, He was a coal miner and they lived in Witt, Montgomery Co, IL.

I was born in Scranton, Pa. and graduated from Wilkes College in Wilkes-Barre, Pa.

As a young lad we lived not far from the Pesavento family who were in the cemetery monument business in South Scranton.
I used to walk by there often and look at the beautifully carved stone monuments.

My grandfather, John has apparently vanished into thin air as I can not find any reord of his death or place of burial. Perhaps he went back to Italy. But my mother, age 94 still living, told me that he died when she was quite young. Perhaps around 1910-1915.

Best wishes and success on the Pesavento Research Center

Robert;
My great grandfather was John Sten Peasavento married
to Johanna Pagnini Boselli. They were from Wilkes-Barre or Scranton area. My mother was the daughter of Maria( Mary Peasavent Boselli) my grandmother. My grandmother had two brothers; Adam and Alfred. Adam was married to a Kitty. Rita was a nurse and or nun who went to the Mother Cabrini Hospital in Chicago, Illinois. Maria Peasavento moved to Atlantic City, N.J. and Gaetano Boselli went to Washington, D.C. to find work during the depression. He died in Washington and is buried there. I assumed my great grandfather died in Pennsylvania. My grandfather Gaetano died before I was born. If you need to find out anything else let me know.

hi, may I ask you whether your great grand father John Pesavento's real name was Giovanni Battista Pesavento, son of Marco and Caterina?
Thanks a lot.

Since I just began my research on my family I discovered that my grandfather,Guiseooe aka Joseph Pesavento was born in Asiago, Italy in 1883. He arrived in the US in 1908 and initially settled in Wilkes-Barre/Scranton where I understand many of our Pesavento ancestors lived and still do. The only source document I have is the 1920 federal census. If you have or can share additional information it certainly would be appreciated. Gary Pesavento

My maternal grandfather, John Pesavento. was, according to marriage records from Montgomery Co, IL. the son of David Pesavento and Barbara Reona.

As you may already know, most of the Pesavento families origiated in Asiago, Italy in the Dolomite Mts. This part of the world was under the Austro-Hungarian empire until after the first World War (1914-18). It then reverted to Italy.

I have contacted church and public sources there but they told me that all of the records were destroyed during this war.What a shame.
