In August I sent a letter to Asiago requesting information on my Greatgrandfather Paolo Pesavento. It took a month, but what I got was very unexpected and very free I might add.
I got this letter tracing Paolo....and HIS father all the way back to 1818. I was shocked!!!!
So...I'll throw a few names and dates out there...maybe it can help someone!

Marco Pesavento b.1818 d.1892
Wife 1: Antonia Pesavento b. 1822 d.1884
Wife 2: Catterina Basso b.1857 d.?

Children that survived: (they had a lot that lived only a couple years)

son: Giovanni b.1850 d.1872
son: Marco Modesto b:1853 d.?
daughter: Paola b.1857 d.?
son: Paolo b: 1860 d.1930

Paolo married Cristina Rodighiero August 11, 1889

Their surviving children:

Marco b. 1891 d.1957 in Lockport, Illinois
Giovanni b. 1894 d. 1965 in Lockport, Illinois
Antonio b. 1899 d. 1968 in Lockport, Illinois

Antonio was my grandfather and he immigrated to the US in 1922 aboard the Giuseppe Verdi.

Hope this can help someone.

Tony,

this information sounds like you could be closely related to me. My great gradfather Joseph (born "Giuseppe") was born in 1900, according to my records, in Asiago. He came to the US in the 1920s, possibly. This is as far back as my information goes. What is of interest, though, is that he moved to Lockport, IL, as well, and I believe he died of TB in the '30s. Do you think he might fit into the information you have? His wife was Anna Sartori and his son Louis is my grandfather.

Tony, Thank you for posting the information that you received from Asiago concerning the Pesavento Family. I have information from a relative that states that my grandfather, John Rodeghero, had a sister Christina that married a Pesavento. It also mentions the Ness clan. I think that Cristina Rodeghiero who married Paolo Pesavento may be my grandfather's sister. My grandfather was born in Asiago and came to the U.S. circa 1886. He married my grandmother, Antonia "Lena" Rigoni in 1888 and they lived in Lockport.
The information that you posted just shows the year. Do you also have the month and day to go with the year? If so, and you would be willing to share those dates, I would be interested in having them. I am currently researching the Rodeghiero family.

Bonnie, The Rodeghieros in Lockport are confusing. Some spell their name with the I and some without the I. I'm not sure if the families are related or not.
As for Lena Rodeghero, I do have some information on her and her family. I believe she spelled her name without the I. At any rate, my Cristina Rodeghiero's parents were Andrea Rodeghiero and Christina Rigoni. I do'nt show her having a brother names John or Giovanni. Although it is quite possible.
Also, I got my information on Lena from a book someone put together at the Lockport Library. It's a history of the Rigoni family and it has a lot of information on her and her family, some old pictures too.
If you'd like to email my address is tpez7@comcast.net. I'll help you out any way I can.

Surnames: Pesavento - Sartori - Rigoni
Anna Sartori could be my grandmother's sister.
My great-aunt Anna Sartori, born 08-05-1906, was married to Joseph Louis Sartori and lived in Lockport, Illinois. My grandmother, Pauline Theresa Sartori, married Virginio "James" Rigoni.
Joseph and Theresa Sartori lived in Asiago Italy and came to the US on 10-11-1911, where they settled in Homer Township on a farm off of Taylor Road. They had 7 children that I know of; Apolonia, John, Inez "Ellen", Rose, Anna, Pauline, and Victor.
I have information on the Sartori's if you are interested.

Hi Tony,

Very surprised to read you words about the Pesavento family. Actually there are many errors and the letter, to be honest, seems to be false.
Maybe I am mistaken but...could you please give me more details about your parents names and grandfather name?
Ciao
Antonella

Hi Antonella,

No, the letter is real and all the information is correct. What makes you think it's wrong? The area I live in has a lot of Pesavento's in it. I was easily able to verify most of the information given to me via Asiago.

My grandparents were Antonio Pesavento and Antonette Rigoni. Both were born in Asiago, Antonio in 1899 and Antonette in 1904. Antonio died in Lockport, Illinois in 1968 and Antonette in 1993. My father's name is Ronald, goes by the name Reno and was born in Lockport in 1924,

Hi Tony,
I said that there was something strange because I come from Pesavento family too, I also liaise with Comune di Asiago and they sent me the family genealogic tree. Maybe we come from two different branches. My greatgrandfather was named Marco Modesto Pesavento born in Asiago 24.5.1853 and he married (only once as far as I know)with Caterina Basso (1878-1925). They had many children, many died after a very short while. My grandfather was Paolo Antonio Pesavento.
My grandfather used to tell me that his brother Cristiano Pesavento went to Canada and that's why i tried to look for some US relatives some time ago. Please tell me more. Ciao
