Greetings!
I'm hoping to establish contact/find out a little more about some of my rellies that left our shores bound for South African in 1948.
My 1st Cousin x 2 removed served in either the Raf or the army during WW2 stationed in South Africa, would love to learn a little more about his military Career. During this time stationed over there he met his wife Isobel Jean Reed & they married in Grahamstown in 1944.
Following the war Frederick retuned home to West Bromwich with his new bride Isobel & they were blessed with their first child 16th Jan 1947 - Terence Anthony Perry. After Africa i don't think West Bromwich was the same again & the trio boarded the Union Castle Line vessel: Arundel Castle in Southampton on 27th April 1948 bound for South Africa.
I'm told that Frederick went over to be a farmer & i have a photograph of him outside his first home (a mud hut).In alter years i believe he worked at the college or uni although in what capacity i'm uncertain.
The couple were blessed with a baby daughter that i believe was called Jennifer.
Both Terence & Jennifer went on to get married & have families of their own, i've been given a copy of Terence's wedding photo.( Hopefully they've all attached ok)
Frederick returned to visit his family a few time over the year & i have a clipping from the early 1970's from such an occasion. Neither Fred & or his wife are with us any longer & are laid to rest somewhere in Africa.
Which is where i hand over to you guys & girls
Hope you can help :)
Regards
Jay (Perry)
