Hi,

I suspect that the line from Capt. William Perry is different from this NC line of Perrys in America and North Carolina. Jamestown was an earlier settlement. Possibly there is a common English ancestor, of course.

Our family lore is that we landed in Virginia in the 1650 to 1700 timeframe and are descended from Phillip Perry I, II and III (grandfather, father, son). These Phillip Perrys and relatives were likely associated with the successful English trading company of the day - Perry and Lane. Trade included exports of goods such as tobacco, foods, grains and importation of English manufactured goods. Earliest Virginia records of this Perry line were destroyed during the Civil War but English financial and legal records still exist.

Also according to lore, the seven sons of Phillip Perry III left Virginia and settled in what is now Franklin County in North Carolina. Cascine was derived from a King's land grant to one of the seven Perry brothers. I figure that many of the Perry's currently residing in Southern states may be descended from one of the seven NC Perry brothers.

Regards, Vick
