Hi Valerie,
Don't know whether our Perks families are connected, but my great grandmother Sarah Ann Perks was born in Staffordshire around 1850. She was the daughter of William Perks and Elizabeth Martin. At some stage she emigrated to Australia and married a Francis Stevens. When my grandmother (Frances Emily Stevens) was born in the 1880's, Sarah and Francis were living in Richmond Victoria, but later moved to Western Australia.

Sarah Perks and Francis Stevens are still a bit of a mystery couple. They were supposedly married about 1886 in Richmond Victoria, but I cannot find a record of their marriage and I have not yet been able to find out when they arrived in Australia. After arriving in Western Australia Sarah and Francis separated. Sarah Stevens (nee Perks) died about 1924 and is buried in Norseman and Francis Stevens is believed to be buried in Karakatta cemetery in Perth.
Look forward to hearing from you if you think there may be a connection between our two Perks families. Trish.
