Surnames: Perakovic
My uncle recently found out the his Perakovic ancestors were not from Ugoslovia. His father recently passed way and his mother said they were from some place else.
I am told that my uncle's mother did not like her in-laws and called them bad names and did not associate with them.
I know that my Uncles father was named Anthony Thomas and lived in Flint Michigan, and that my uncle has a sister named Dorothy, brothers Mike and Joeseph. They were named after uncles and aunts in the Perakovic family. The social security death index lists theses unlces and some aunts. But they are still stuck. If these names sound familar let me know. Thankyou.

Hi Christy. Yes, I'm pretty sure we're talking about the same family.

It sounds like you're on the Tommy and Essie Perakovic side of the family. They had 4 kids that I know of: Joe, Dorothy Jean, Anthony, and Mike.

Tommy had 6 siblings that I know of: Joseph, Mary, Helen, Mike, Julia, and Dorothy Jean. Dorothy Jean was my grandmother.

The seven of them were the kids of Joseph and Dorothy Perakovic, who immigrated from Yugoslavia to New York. I'm not sure when the family moved to Flint, but I have pictures of several of the siblings together in Flint in the 1930s.

It seems that there was quite a feud in the family. I didn't even know that I had another great-uncle (Tommy) living in the Flint area until I saw his obituary and asked my grandmother about it. She said they hadn't talked in years.
