Re: Looking for Lost Pequeno's
I am a Pequeno. I reside in Austin, Texas now but hail from San Antonio where my parents still reside. My father is Jesse Pequeno who's father I only remember as "grandpa Pa" He passed away around 1970 if my memory serves me correctly. I have not consulted with my father befor this email, but I will. Let me know if we have any family ties.

Re: Looking for Lost Pequeno's
My name is Uvaldo Pequeno III. My grandfather is Uvaldo Pequeno. I never knew any of his siblings. I was not very close to the family. My father is one of 13 children. Half of his sibling live in the valley (South Texas) and the other half live in Oregon around the Portland area. I have more cousins than I can count or know. One of my Aunts was doing a geneology on the last name. She mentioned that the name was changed from Evangelista to Pequeno because our distant relative was running for his life. I don't really know much more than that or if that is even true. I have met a few Pequeno's from Spain. A couple of things seem to be common. Light olive skin, colored eyes either deep blue or deep green, and dark hair. I met my great-grandparents once when I was a child. They were from Mexico City or Monterrey Mexico. I don't recall. One thing I have reasoned is the word Pequeno is not an old word. It appears its earliest origins starts around 1830's somewhere in Spain/Portugal.

Were they originally from Hualahuises? I think one of the names mentioned is my Grandfathers........

Re: Looking for Lost Pequeno's
I pump Pequeno blood on the maternal side. My grandfather Benjamin Pequeno immigrated from Paul Do Mar in Madeira. I am considering a strange connection with the "Poor Fellows" and wonder if y'all have any connection.

I do know that my grandfather came from Hualahuises...
