My grandfather Guiseppe(1878) was from Calabria. He moved to Kansas City. His brothers Dominic(called Mike), James and sisters Filomena and Josephine settled in New York. Any info?

Did you ever get any information about your Pepe family? My great grandfather Francesco (Frank) Pepe was from Guardia Piemontese in Calabria. He was born in 1860. I do not have any information about his siblings, but his parents names were Luigi and Catalina. Is this your family line too?

Lois,
My great grandfather Francesco Pepe came from the town of Guardia Piemontese in Calabria. I am still researching his line, so I don't have any information about siblings yet. Do you know where Lucia Pepe was from or when she was born?

Mary,
I am not sure exactly where Lucia came from. I know Her brother Francisco(Frank) Pepe came over with my grandmother via Ellis Island in 1892. It was stated that they were from Sicignano(not sure of spelling). Her mother and father were already here.

I am searching for a possible Pepe/Peppi link in my husband's Italian family.

I have heard mention of a Philomena Peppi (sp?) and I am seeking a connection to the famiy name of Laino through this name. Some of the other names that MAY be involved are Scarella, and Ascolese.

Concetta Laino (her maiden name) became my husband's grandmother. I believe that her mother may have had the name of Filomena/philomene Peppe, or a variation thereof.

I believe that Concetta was born in this country, indicating that it was her parents who immigrated into this country. Since, she was born in the 1890's, her parents (possibly, Pepe) were born around 1870, or so. That would make her parents some of the early immigrants.
They were in the New York area, but part of her family could have continued farther west.

So, to understand the connection that I am seeking---

Grandmother was Concetta Laino.

The mother of Concetta Laino may have had the maiden name of Peppi/Pepe and the first name of Filomena. So, this would be a Laino/Pepe marriage that I am seeking.

Concetta also had a sister named Helen.

Again, the Americanization of the names indicates to me that this family was of the early immigration period.

Concetta Laino married a Ferrando, but, as this is the generation after the people that I am seeking, it seems less relevant to the search for Concetta's family. Still, I mention it just in case it may provide another link.
