I have information that the surname Peon came from Asturias in Spain, and know that the first on my lineage D.Alonso Manuel de Peon y Valdez came to the New Spain (Mejico's Yucatan Peninsula ) knight of the order of Calatrava in the mid 1700's and I have our coat of arms if anybody is interested I can mail a copy. However, my interest is in finding out the origins of the surname, any information on the subject will be greatly appreciated> I can be contacted at TheMINOTAUR@WebTV.NET thank you! and all answers will be replied>>

Hi,
Although you will see my name is Payne I found out a couple of years ago that my GGrandfather took the name Payne in prference to his family name Peon.
He came to the UK from NW Spain in the early 1900's to find work and the family settlesd here.
It's nice to hear someone else is tracing Peon's and that we've ended up in th same country!
Look forward to hearing more.
