Elouise Smith

Elouise Smith, age 77, of Hot Springs, went to be with the Lord on Thursday, Jan. 5, 2006.

She was the fourth of nine children born to Florence and Rube Pennington on June 19, 1928, in Garland County. On Nov. 8, 1946, she was married to Johnie Virgil Smith. She was preceded in death by her husband and her parents.

She was a faithful member of Southwest Missionary Baptist Church and was a 1946 graduate of Lakeside High School. Her strong faith and courage touched all who knew her.

She is survived by two sons and daughters-in-law, Gary V. a nd Annette Smith of Hot Springs and Brent L. and Sherylyn Smith of Fayetteville; three grandchildren, Peggy and her husband Norman Hill of Jones Mill, Kyle Smith and Justin Smith, both of Fayetteville; one great-grandson, Tyler Smith of Hot Springs; five brothers and three sisters-inlaw, Lawrence Pennington, Cecil Pennington, Eugene and Lurene Pennington, Jerry and Joanne Pennington, all of Hot Springs, and Lon and Faye Pennington of Pearcy; three sisters and one brother-in-law, Lorene and Odell Cagle of Hot Springs, Jessielee Legg of Jasper, Ala., and Iris Wilson of Pearcy; brothers- and sistersin-law, Joyce and Hubert Walters and Joe and Sondra Smith, all of Hot Springs; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 7, 2006, in Davis-Smith Funeral Home Chapel, Hot Springs, with Brother J.D. Hooper officiating.

Interment will be in Memorial Gardens Cemetery under the direction of Davis-Smith Funeral Home, Hot Springs. Pallbearers will be Kyle Smith, Justin Smith, Phillip Bailey, Dale Lott, Loyde Smith and Robert Mitchell.

Honorary pallbearers will be Maxine Wolf, Wilma Te a g u e, Ad a Moore, Dr. John B. Simpson and the members of Southwest Missionary Baptist Church.

Memorials may be made to Southwest Missionary Baptist Church, 112 Dexter St., Hot Springs, AR 71913.
