I am a descendant of a REBECCA PENNINGTON, 2nd wife of George COTTEN, of Warren Co., GA They'd only been married a few years when she died, probably in childbirth. I know that George COTTEN owned land that adjoined Thomas and Leatha Beall PENNINGTON. George's first wife was Amelia/Amaziah Beall. I feel sure that Rebecca PENNINGTON is some kin to Thomas PENNINGTON and that Leatha Beall is kin to the first wife. I imagine that Rebecca may have been young, and therefore doesn't show up in any kind of business transaction or other genealogical abstract. Would anyone know anything at all that might lead me to know more about her? Her death in 1811 was noted in the Charleston Observer as being in Warren Co., GA but I have no burial record for her or any of George's other wives... not even his death in 1833. Rebecca PENNINGTON COTTEN left two young children: Julia Ann and James Kennon.
