Pendergraft of Sedona, AZ.
"Came to the United States in about 1668, settling in
Virginia.
"He immigrated in 1668/69 to to VA from IRL (via
ENG).
"Tradition from the family of Dr. Charles
Augustus Pendergrass, Jr., of
Richmond is that the first immigrant was from Ireland originally but sailed to
Virginia from
England, that he brought two sons with him, and that a son or brother of the Immigrant remained behind. James was probably born by 1640 if the father of at least two sons in 1669, as professional genealogists use 26 as the average age of a father at birth of first child when the father's age is unknown. James arrived 1668/69, meaning 1668 Old Style calendar, 1669 New Style used today.
"James might have been the son of Philip
Prendergast of the 1643, 1647, and 1655 Charles City, VA, Land Grants, as Philip is the only
Prendergast of record in
Virginia before James, but Philip apparently did not remain in
Virginia."
