I am the gr-gr-gr-granddaughter of Elijah Ward Pell. and I know he was born in New Rochelle in 1806. His wife was Seba Mattie and his daughters were Hettie Cornelia and Geraldine Ann (my gr-gr-grandmother). They were Mormon converts and came to San Francisco on the ship "Brooklyn" in 1846. Elijah was expostulated from the church in 1846 for "liscentious behaviour". He was Samuel Brannan's "right hand man". He brought the logs for his home on the ship and later bought land from Thomas Larkin at the intersection of Green and Laguna in San Francisco. I am looking for Elijah's and Seba's parents as I don't know who they are or what her maiden was.
