Hi, My great grandfather was also a Pelkey but sometime after WW2 his last name was changed to Pelky and his parents grandparents came from Ireland the turn of the 19th century and apparently a lot of them immigrated to the USA and some came to Canada, well that's the story my grandfather used to tell me.

I remember Raymond Pelkey from Barre. He was deaf. He attended my grandfather's funeral. My grandfather was Wilmer Pelkey of Shrewsbury, MA. He lived and worked in the Rock of Ages Quarry before moving to Worcester, MA and settled in Shrewsbury in 1945.

hi joy hope ur in for a shocker my names joseph william loster/pelkey and he went by the name bill and he was my dad died in 1987 and buried at brookside cemetery on brookside blvd and i have sisters named melanie and kim pelkey he died when i was 8 at the age of 71 and let me tell u i remember everything and could tell u stories and i have heard ur name joy i remember growing up he was short bald and i was told o olooked just like him i found my sister melanie after 18 years back in 2004 so if u want to and we lived in a house on elgin ave please feel free to call me at 1204-952-0127 or email me at fordboy31@shaw.ca i was told i have alot of brothers and siters and would love to hear from u by for now

Thanks for the reply, I believe I saw that public tree. Jennie's other name was new information for me and I wanted to check before I asked my family more about it.

One of the names of her children has an incorrect translation from the census...and you can see it if you look closely. Other than that - it looks to be correct.

There is a family tree that a famiy member is working on. Jennie's real name is Desheiges Pelletier b 1868 In Ancestry.com there is a 1930 census James married to Jennie. Children Delores 25yrs Arthur 32 yrs, Irvin 23 yrs, Elvera 24 yrs, Doris and Delores ages one month. Also living with them are Isaac LuMonte, Alice LuMonte and Bettie LuMonte all living in Detroit on Lenox street.

So, We believe Jennie Pelkey was my great-great grandmother. She married James P Carriveau in Michigan and had 9 living children. I do not have a death date for her or gravesite.

The story we heard is that she and James eloped and moved to Michigan. Still asking my grandmother questions about this as she is Jennie's grandaughter.

Would be interested in learning more about this line of the family.

My name is Greg Goudey, I have inherited a fantastic list/history of the Pelkey/Pelletier family that I have just started going through. This was hand-written by one of my great aunts who lived in Eagle Lake, Maine for many years.I have just started deciphering some of the writing. Passed away sometime between 1865 and 1875, most likely in Roseville TWP, Kandiyohi Co., Minnesota. Parents were Jeremie Pelletier and Celina Majeau Pelletier. This is for anyone working on the Jeremie Pelletier Pelkey and Celine Majeau family....

Jeremie and Celina moved to Roseville TWP, Kandiyohi Co., MN in 1862. Children were: Moses, Damas, Archie, Joseph Phileas, Josephine, Frank, and Selena. I have come across family with photos of Moses, Damas, and Archie; however, I would LOVE a copy of a photo of Jeremie and Celina! If anyone could help me out with this, please contact me. I would love to talk to you!

This might be a long shot, but maybe someone in St-Esprit, Montcalm, Quebec (Majeau or Pelletier families) where the Pelletier's came from might have one???

I'm also looking for photos of Frank, Joseph Phileas, Selena, and Josephine.

Donald and Camilla Pelkey

My husband's grandfather was Donald Pelkey, born in Canada aout 1897. He married Camilla E. at some point. They had about 13 children, one of whom was my husband's father, Donald Gerard Pelkey, b. 1936, d. 1996. Some of his sibling were Theodore, Geraldine, Josephine, Earnestine. The only information I have so far been able to obtain is a 1930 census, with some of the family on it. I have no other inforamtion (and neither does my husband, unfortunately). Anyone a relative, distant or otherwise?

My name is Mike Collins and I might have some info that may help you out. Your husbands grand father Donald is my great uncle. Donald Sr and Camilla (Brown) Pelkey are my Great Grand Parents. I'll give you all the info I have, some of it fact and some info that was passed down through the family.

Children Of Donald and Camilla there was Donald 1936-1996, Theodore 1940-1997(Uncle Ted was on the Portland police and according to my mom when he was buried someone in the family put a couple of cans of Pabst blue ribbon in his coffin so you could always stop by and have a drink with him.), Geraldine, Josephine, Earnestine 1922-2007, Herschel 1929-1998 (Who lost a few of his fingers clearing snow or something out of a snow blower.), Frederick (Uncle Fred had a camp on a lake in Raymond. He would always tell us kids growing up if we didn't behave he would pull the plug and drain the lake.)Pauline 1926-2000(My Grandmother), Rita (The only child still alive), Jenette 1926-2010, Teresa (Who just past away a month ago or so from cancer) and Jean.

Now I know that somewhere one of our ancestors was Native American because Uncle Fred looked like he was almost 100% Indian.

Unfortunately I'm stuck where you are. I have no idea why the last name was switched from Plekey to Pelletier but if I come across any info I'll let you know.

My grandmother was Mary Madelaine Pelkey born Fort Kent Maine 1877
she married Harry Ernest Murphy and lived in new brunswick.
Don't knoe anything else, family says she had a sister named Annie but her last name was pelletier. Can't find any birth records for Fort Kent, do you have any. Would like to find out about indian blood as family says Mary was of Indian decent ( blackfoot)

Modest Pelkey was born in Maine in 1887. They called her Maude. She married Onesime Brochu in about 1900 in Maine. They had 12 children. Modest (Maude) was my great grandmother. She was living in East Hartford, Connecticut when she died on December 11, 1961.

My husband was adopted from Saint Joseph's Catholic Orphanage in Green Bay WI. He was called James Pelkey at the orphanage. He thinks his middle name was Edmon. His date of birth was Aug 17, 1936. He lived at Saint Joseph's until 1942. At that time, a family took him as a foster child and later adopted him. He seeks information about his birth family.

Virginia True is listed as one of the daughters of Homer Pelkey who died March 17, 1980. She was one of 7 children of Homer and Alice. Homer was born in Clarenceville, Quebec 2 October 1900 the son of Charles Pelkey and Clara Schoolcraft. The obituary can be found online & printable from the Northern NY Historical Newspaper collection. It's all searchable and printable and contains tons of wonderful information.

Zeb Pelkey is specifically mentioned as the brother of Paul Pelkey of Morrisonville who died March 20, 1943.
Seeking insights into Zeb who I found in the 1910 through 1930 census in Malone; and is married twice. Zeb's children are Libby b 1890; Virginia b 1892; Delia b 1895; George b 1902; Rosina b 1904; Florence b 1906; Edward b 1908.

Her name was Theresa. She married 4 times. Kowalka was her last name when she died. She is buried in Mt. Morris Cemetary in Michigan. I have a picture of her. This would be my Husband's Great great grandmother.

Hello Dave, I am Glenn Adamz. As luck would have it I was just today looking through some old, old photos that my dad's mother took in NY. I came across two photos of Pelkeys. I know that it is not an entire album but it may be two you have never seen. One has written on it "At Crescent, NY. The Pelkey Family", 1911. It is of an old bearded gentleman and 5 ladies. (I do think that the female on the far right is my grandmother - she is not a Pelkey. She was a Lobdell). The other photo is of a single gentleman and simply states, "Mr. Pelkey" and dated 1911, also. The two men are obviously not the same. My Millers and Lobdell families lived in the Berne and Westerlo areas of NY. If these photos can be of any help just let me know and I will scan them for you and yours. Respectfully, Glenn Adamz
